Need more info in doing TLP to TLS engine modifications
i'm going to be doing this conversion on my 2001 TLP and I remember awhile ago there was quite a bit of information about it but now having trouble digging it out. Is there anyone out there w/ a list of parts that i would need (well i do know the basics but would like an indepth list) and any problems that you've run into. If i remember correctly one dealership actually offered to do this conversion on TLP's if my memory serves me correctly. Also, the duration if the install would be. I know i've read alot of ppl contradicting this b/c of the costs but i'm able to get a hold of a engine soon that's very inexpensive and i have mechanics that i know that would help me get everything in. Just doing some initial planning rite now. that's why i need your help guys!

The discussion we have had countless times has always ended with everyone agreeing that 3.5 conversion or s/c was a better way to go.
If you can get the entire TL-S motor, i guess thats great, but you better be getting it for a hell of a price...
not to mention you need the instrument cluster, but the VSA system is needed, and theres a lot more to VSA than a little box. Or you could just not have it.
In theroy, all you need it the motor and the ECU and it will run, just no VSA, and funny instrument cluster behavior.
No one on this board or any other TL/CL site has done the conversion. Its always worked out better to just go 3.5 or S/C. If you do it, you better post details and pictures of every damn thing

Oh...i've always thought its been done before...so i guess the question now is anyone have any copy of the shop manual for 99-01 TL and 02-03 TL-S?
going to be a lot of planning so if there's any one who has access to these two shop manuals i would like to compare if the rockers, cams, valves, valvesprings, IMFC(sp.) would fit directly
Oh....and if there would be any problems w/ connecting the TL-S ECU after the conversion is done.

3.5?from which car,MDX,or 3.5RL?the engine from RL only has 210hp,even the MDX has 240hp,why we don't do for the TYPE S for 260hp ??

The MDX or Oddysey. The RL's 3.5 is a different angle V6 than the other J35's.
It adds a shit load of low end torque.
