not sure about buying just the case, although i doubt it is possible unless you find that on ebay. but why switch the electronics if you did buy a new one, it could just be reprogrammed with much less hassle.

put a straw where the old slot for a ring was, super glue around the straw, when it dries, cut the straw to the same length so it's flush with ur fob

You heard wrong.

Make sure the codes in the back of the new remote matches your old stock remote. Some key fob may look the same
but won't work with each other. Be sure to have all Key fobs you want working with you when you do this.
Its VERY important to stay within the time limits or it wont work

1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

2 Within 1-4 seconds push the transmitter lock or the unlock button.

3 Within 1-4 seconds turn the ignition switch OFF

4 Within 1-4 seconds turn the ignition switch ON (II).

5 Within 1-4 seconds push the transmitter lock or the unlock buttin.

6. Within 1-4 seconds turn the ignition switch OFF.

7. Within 1-4 seconds turn the ignition switch ON (II).

8. Within 1-4 seconds push the transmitter lock or the unlock button.

9. Within 1-4 seconds turn the ignition switch OFF.

10. Within 1-4 seconds turn the ignition switch ON (II).

11. Within 1-4 seconds push the transmitter lock or the unlock button.

12. Confirm you can hear the sound on the door lock actuators. Within 1-4 seconds, push the transmittor lock or
onlock button again.

13. Within 10 sec, aim the transmitters whos codes you want to store at the receiver, and press the transmitter
lock or unlock buttons. Confirm that you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators after each transmitter
code is stores. Make sure you program all transmitters you want working within 10 seconds of each other.
Ones not included in this programming will no longer work.

14. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and pull out the key

15. Confirm proper operation with the new codes.

i went to my local acura and honda dealership and saw exactly what you need. its a leather sleeve that goes over the remote and has a key ring on it. in fact one of the it shows that you can use it if you break the remote where the keyring goes, which is what i think you did. they go for about 10-12 dollars. maybe you should swing by your dealership to see if they have something similar to that for sale.

Question on Fob #1 vs #2

I've ended up with two #1s. The vendor I got the 2nd #1 from INSISTS the numbers matter not, it's the sequence that they are programmed in that matters.

I did program my 2nd #1, and it works but as 'driver one'.

Can anyone confirm that it really does not matter about the numbers on the fobs? That if I reprogram my first #1 and then my 2nd #1 that I'll have driver 1 and driver 2?

After dinking with the remotes, I'm thinking the vendor is FOS, but hey, I'm a NOOB with Acuras - but I LOVE my TL!

Thanks for any insight anyone can provide!
Steve
