Welcome Leeya79 !!!
Is your "D5" indicator lamp flashing also ? Is the revving mainly in the lower gears ?

The P0780 code is for a possible mechanical problem in the tranny's hydraulic control system. Check the tranny's fluid level and condition. Reset the CEL by removing the clock back-up fuse in the passenger's side kick panel for a few minutes and re-install it.

~Possible problem in: { shift control solenoid A, A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A-B assembly }

You could try a fluid drain & fill using Honda DW1, a new spin on AT filter, and cleaning the tranny solenoid valve's screens. Consider having the tranny evaluated and if bad replace with a used '06>'07 Accord V-6 donor tranny for less than $2000 installed.

If your looking for something a little more promising the 3x3 drain and fill, changing the spin off filter and cleaning the solenoid screens might be the best options. Depending on your how bad your tranny is you might want to save that time and money and put it towards a new tranny. Above will cost 100.00 plus your own time.

A few facts:
1. rebuild your tranny about 2500.00 not guaranteed to last.
2. replace your tranny with a remanufactured about 2000.00-2500.00
3. find a used 06/07 accord tranny and have somebody install it for you for under 2000.00 people have had success with this option.

How many miles are on your TL?

if it slips/revs up when hard on the gas in 2nd-3rd gear upshift
= 3rd gear clutchpack worn out,,,our weak point
no amount of new fluid will fix the loss of friction material from the disc

go with a junkyard oddy trans..put the new fluid in it!

I had a 99 TL come to me with a flashing D4 and the first thing I saw was a broken connector on the solenoid near the battery tray. They told me they hit a huge pot hole and that's when it all went south, every mechanic was recommending a rebuild. After I replaced the A/B solenoid that I had laying around no flashing D4 and shifting nicely. Check that out let us know.

right, but op reports rpm increase-trans slippage
plus your 99s 4 speed was a better trans!

I do agreee to looking for loose wires when electrical acts up
that includes cleaning battery terminals and cable ends- then having system tested

guess who just got a freaky dash, harrrrrrrd to starrrrrrrt,,,,battery dead inside!

note: HOT water in a cup with baking soda, poured on crud growth, will boil off battery acid crud on connections
and nuetralize the acid

Easiest connection to check is the negative battery terminal.

If you start from the battery and follow the terminal all the way down to wear it grounds at that point the wire sometimes fall apart and needs to be replaced.

There are other ground wires that can cause issues also. Electrical connections to components are always a good place to start with sensors, relays, switches, etc. Most everything is tied into the ECU/PCM.
