Navi Voice gone!

My Navi voice stopped working today.. in place of the voice I get engine whine and a background hum. Anyone else ever experience this?

I think that warrants a trip to the dealer.

Have you installed any aftermarket stereo equipment that could have caused this?

Hopefully if ur still stock radio the dealer can fix painlessly for you

Exclamation

What have you done to try and fix it? Here's a few things I was thinking of...

    Good luck!

Yes, make sure you check this. If you or someone else were messing around with the setup options on the navi screen the voice may have been inadvertantly turned down or off.

Hmmif your stereo still works and front speakers still do it sounds like a short. Try grounding the mute wire on the back of the 20 pin harness A on the Bose. Do it when the navi voice button is pressed . That will switch the signal to the navi untill the grounding is undone. That way you can see if maybe the mute lead from navi that sends a ground signal while navi voice is active, still works. I can tell you which pin exactly later tonight if you want to try it but you gotta take apart center console.

let us know what it was. Im guessing the mute ground wire is shorted or loose. Just my ten cents.

Same thing just happened today. NAVI voice doesn't come on, just electrical noise like a badly tuned AM station. I get the button beeps, and temporary mute when the voice is supposed to come on, but no voice or 'dings'.

I also noticed that my OnStar isn't working either. Well, luckily I have an appointment at PAA tomorrow morning, so hopefully it's a quick resolution. I don't have any audio mods so I doubt they're going to hassle me about it. I'll post with the results. Kinda strange that this is happening to an '03 TL that's 2 months old!

it happens to me all the time well actually 2 time but if you just turn off your car and pull the fuse it will be ifine you can tell if it goes bad when the onstar light on the right goes red when you start your car....so just turn it off and go to the passanger side fuse box and pull out the navi/telematics fuse and pop it back it and viola....dealer will do the same thing so just save yoru self the trouble

It wasn't the fuse. Since it's a new car the guys over at PAA are ordering a new NAVI unit. I'm glad they're not trying to fix stuff that shouldn't be breaking so early in the first place. Nice to know that they're looking out for my best interests. Kudos...

      Why just drive side??

Most likely you have to check both front speakers. Fade control.

Alright Songoku! I'm moving to SoCal so you better play nice, buddy! I guess I said "driver's side" because that's where I always hear the Navi voice come from. It was just a quick list of things to check -- I'm glad other folks added their .02 cents as well.
