Question lowering 2000 TL

I'm planning to lower my TL but don't know if it will mess up the alignment. How is the ride? Smooth? What kind of springs do I use? Thanks.

Yes, you will need an alignment after you lower your TL. Ride will depend on what springs you get, and how low you go. The lower the drop, the harsher the ride. Question you should ask yourself is how low do you want and are you willing to compromise lower ride height for a harsher ride? Most people here will agree that H&R Sport springs give the best ride quality and lowering all in one. As for me, I prefer the H&R race springs because I'm willing to sacrifice ride quality for esthetics (no wheel gap at all with race springs). Check the specs for H&R above under "suspension" link. You can go low with great ride quality (similar to stock), but only with coilovers. They replace your factory springs/shocks - lots of money for these. Good luck!

you can also get comptech's or eibach's. comptech's are specifically designed for acura's. but people say that comptech's give that "raked" look (i.e., the rear of the car is a little higher than the front of the car). however, if you plan to install a stereo system in the trunk, then the raked look wouldnt be a problem since the weight of the box would lower the rear and give the car an "even" look like the H&R's.

If you have the money, I would go with the Teins SS. They are $850 on a groupbuy right now on Acura-CL.com. Adjustable coilovers with shocks. This way if you get aftermarket rims, you can adjust your height to whatever you like. Yes lowering you car will mess up your alignment, just get another after your springs settles. If you lower your car past 2inch drop height, you may want to get cambers.

Comptechs are good. Just get alignment done afterward. But like peiginlong said, if you drop more than 2 inches (is it 2??), you might need camber adjuster kits. FYI, comptechs will not require camber adjusters.

You might need camber adjustment kits whenever you have negative (or even possitive) camber whether you have comptech's or coilover's.
