Navi problems

For people who have the Navi. Has you Navi system ever told you to turn the wrong way. It was showing a right turn but the voice said left. It did it the whole night I was driving with every turn. I even turned the car off and started it again and type in the address and it was still happening. I have the a 99TL that has the hard drive Navi. Was just wonder what the hell was wrong with it. Any help would be great. It is working fine now but it is really bugging me

mine has done it about 5 times that I can remember.

it PISSES ME OFF when it does it....

I can imagine what it looks like if other drivers see me right after it does it.... I'm screaming and yelling at my dashboard and giving it the finger!

I always thought I was imagining it, but it's done it twice when my GF was in the car and she verified the fact that my NAV had gone retarded.

That happened to me once! I figured nothing is perfect and there might have been some GPS miscommunication or something!! If it gets out of hand I would suggest having the dealer test it out!!

About 500,000 intersections. Some of them are gonna get screwed up. Hasn't happened to me yet. But Kansas is long and flat and straight and not a lot of confusion.

I tried to post a reply yesterday but the forum's server was unresponsive. Oh well, anyway...

Remember that the voice prompts are always read to conclusion, even after the maneuver has been completed.

In an area with lots of turns with short distances between them (downtown areas are a prime example), the voice prompts can sometimes ramble on even when the next turn is being displayed on the screen.

So, if you have just completed a maneuver, and have next a left turn followed by a short distance and then a right turn, you'll get a voice prompt telling you "Left turn ahead". However, if you're done making the left turn before the voice prompt is complete, the screen will display a right turn, and the voice prompt will still say "Left turn ahead".

Anyway, during such areas of high turn density, it is advisable to keep the map displayed on the screen in split-screen mode (instead of the full-screen maneuver mode), then just follow the blue line. I have the display on this mode all the time; unfortunately the Acura Navi doesn't let you choose that mode as the default. You have to switch to it every time! Why? My old Alpine Navi lets you choose the default mode.

after you have programmed your location in, hit the map/guide button and it will take you out of the full screen of the map into a "split screen" where it shows the next direction on the left over the map screen.

(correct if wrong, I can't remember when not sitting in car)
