Post Nav system update

Acura.com is now selling v2.04, dated 5/2001 for the nav system. Does anyone know if this is the big update that is expected to come this year? Updates usually come out in the fall (August timeframe) so I'm not clear on why the earlier release and what the updates are. I assume cars built in May will this new release. Has anybody upgraded to it?

Where do you see that the new DVD was out. Do they tell you what was updated on this new version?

And I wish the update wasn't so damn expensive... Don't give me crap about driving a 30K+ car and complaining about the price of the update... at around $160 for a DVD disc, that's pretty stupid! We should only have to pay for the media, don't you agree? At least the HD navi users got free updates for 2 years. Going along those lines, we should only have to pay for the disc for at least the first two years.... just ranting... I'm done now!

You might be able to copy the DVD disk but the problem is will the DVD player in the back trunk read the disk ???

Just like CD players don't read CD-R or CD-RWs.. i think there might be something like that ... or WOULD THE DVD'S WON'T HAVE IT ?
I M CONFUSED.... will do a research on that !

when updating the DVD disc, it saves all the previous addresses, personal addresses and all the settings. You don't have to worry about that.

Now that you mention that, I remember the commercial for the MDX showing that feature.

The MDX Navi has a bunch of features not included on any other Acura. There's a trip computer that displays instant MPG, average MPG since last fill up, miles remaining, and the MPG history of the last five fill-ups. It also resets automatically at each fill-up. The downside is that the trip computer function is shoe horned on to the same screen as the AC controls. Instead of pushing the desired function as on the TL you have to cycle through up to five options to change the fan and air direction settings.

The bread crumb feature leaves little dots on the screen of the route traveled so you can retrace the same route on the return trip.

I have an MDX and all the database and points of interest are the same as my TL-S. Other than the trip computer and bread crumbs the systems are identical. I think Acura TLC made up the "2.04 was released for the MDX" explanation.

Unhappy

I talked with Acura today, and they said that version 2.04 was a technical update that dealt with the MDX, no new coverage areas were added. They said that the new version would be coming out in September or October, like it did last year.

Now, that's news we could all use! Great looking out for the rest of us. Thanks.
