Nav screen problem! Please help.

My navigation screen after starting my car will come up with a bluish screen with thin horizontal line's going across it! Allthough, when I touch the screen it still beep's and change's color. I can sometimes restart the car and it will go back to normal. Anybody have this problem before? What could be wrong with it?

My TL is a 2000 and is a dvd system. I had an aftermarket H/U installed. Is it any way possible something could of happened during the install? What worries me the most is Acura giving me a hard time with a warranty claim because of the installation of the aftermarket H/U.

I have a similar problem as well. I get a "Hard Disc Error, (Unformatted)" message with a blue screen. It only happened once a month or so, and now it is a little more frequent. I bought the car "certified" and I have about 6000 more miles of warranty. Any advice?

I have a 99 pre dvd

Sounds like a hardware issue with the screen itself, or possibly a loose wire. I would double check connections at the box in the trunk to start off.

Something simular to this happened to my 00 TL, and the dealer replaced the screen. The problem hasn't come back. Dunno if it would be from your aftermarket head unit....

hey man... I don't know if it's still a problem with your navi or not, but I provide services to get the navi up and running at a fraction of the cost of the dealer. Email me at ankurbhai@gmail.com if you need any help.

Thanks, But my TL is under factory warranty. My only ? was if the Acura dealership is going to give me a hard time that I had an aftermarket headunit installed which was long before the nav started acting screwy.

Unless they can prove that your aftermarket stereo caused the screen to fail, they will honor the warranty. If you’re confident in your stereo's install, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

I have the same lines across my screen when I start up the system. It is a 99 hard disc system. It appears to be running even though the screen has the lines all through it. When I hit the MENU button, I get a blue-ish screen with lines through it, and when I hit the MAP button I get all sorts of colors with the lines through it. After a few minutes, sometimes longer, the screen will come back to normal.

Is it the screen or something else?

dunno who did your aftermarket HU install, but if you were the one who did it, you may consider getting a friend or someone who works in a stereo shop to get you a fake install invoice just so that it weighs more in your favor along the lines of what the guy a few posts above mine said regarding proving to your dealer that your HU is not interfering with the navi.

Nav Scren with lines - FIXED

I had the same problem and replaced the screen this weekend. It solved the problem! I bought the screen on ebay for around $150. It took about 3 hours to pull the old screen and replace it, but it beat the $1200 that the dealer was asking!!!!!!
