Hey listers,
So, here's an idea...obviously pretty cumbersome in terms of planning and actually pulling it off, and maybe even a bit hoke...but interesting, maybe even intriguing. How about a nationwide meet in the spring...all local "chapters" organize their own meets on a given day...interesting idea, TL meets all over the country on the same day. Gotta be good karma (carma) - pun intended. Thoughts? With the know-how on this list, I could even see some kind of sat-link (lol)...

Actually, I think that's a swell idea. But my CLK55 might be in so I may have to attend a Mercedes Meet.
Whoahhhh, just kidding guys!
Doc, I agree I think we should try to arrange something like that. Kinda like everyone take pictures and stuff and post at the end of the day and we can kinda compare the different meets, etc.

additionally, we should all call that day the TL Day (like the independence day or Veterans day) so we can all celebrate our TLs every year at the same time. And this day will be known to virtually everyone in the nation via internet, magazines, TV, newspaper, radio, etc. Mass media will convey the information that we TL owners are proud of our cars and no IS300 or 328 can mess with us. hehehehh...

Actually, although it was an old idea and not really what came to mind when I saw the title - but has anyone ever tried to plan a REAL national meet? ---- Where we try to gather as many multi-state/canadian people to one place for a huge a-tl gathering??

I don't see why it can't be done... Every year there is a Grand Prix gathering, usually in Kansas City, where the Grand Prix used to be assembled. The event even had Pontiac Sponsorship one year, where they brought the original Concept Car, the Indiana 500 Pace Car, etc. Local groups managed to get group rates on truck service, to have their cars trucked to Kansas City, and they got a group rate at a local hotel. I think the first year they did that (back in 1999) they had something like 1000 people or something like that.
I don't see why the Acura groups can't do it, in Marysville, OH or something....

It's not a bad idea...if it were organized well and planned carefully. It should include all the major cities and 1 person from each meet can just post pics for all to see

I say Michigan, but I might be a little biased. ![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
No, a national meet is unlikely to happen, at least if you expected good attendance. I say we split in half -- west coast and east coast. California and NY, perhaps. But since most of the people will be driving a long way to get there, it should be a weekend event where we have some events and make it a fun time. Additionally, someone in the area must find a big parking lot to use, since there will be hundreds of cars (I'm hoping everyone will attend).
It would be the meet of our lifetime.

Oh, and I think we should get sponsorship. Companies that make parts for our cars would most likely sponsor the event if we can get a lot of cars to show up -- I'm talking at least a hundred or so. Then with the sponsorship money, we could have a competition and give out prizes (maybe even parts that the companies will donate??).
But all of this will have to be based on a promise of people showing up.

That reminds me, at the 2000' Grand Prix gathering, they rented out the local track for the day. It was particularly memorable, because a bunch of the Ford guys found out about this, and swung by the track. I remember this one SVT Contour actualy blew his tranny in the middle of the track, during a race

You should setup a registration system. That's what the Pontiac guys did. There was a nominal registration fee too if I remember. Though you may want to hold off until spring to have a meet.

Well... I dont know about the national meet... but its a good idea! I doubt we could pull it off. Hell... I've wanted an Atlanta meet for 2 years now and no one wants to coem to that! But I'm all for a "TL Day" holiday. Shit, it just gives me an other reason to drink and take off work!!!!
