My Transmission has finally had it
Last week my transmission started some minor slipping between 2nd and 3rd gear, and occasionally it wouldn't find 3rd at all. Today was real scary. On my way to Wendy's it did something I've never felt before. It slipped from 1st - 2nd. On my way home I was in forth gear, and the transmission dropped to 2nd unexpectedly. I was in SS when it happened. I wasn't going too fast, so it was only around 5000rpm. I tried to put it back in 3rd and it wouldn't go, so I tried to click 4th. The indicator read 4th gear, but it felt like it was in neutral. Nothing I could do would get the transmission to engage, so I pulled off the side of the road. The transmission finally engaged 1st, so I drove the rest of the way home in 1st gear.
The dealer told me he couldn't get it in until the 16th, but I'm going to see if it can be moved up. It's now too dangerous for me to drive.

While on my way to the dealer today my VSA, Check Engine and “Yellow VSA Triangle” came on. I had a terrible time getting it to 3rd-5th, plus I’m nervous as hell that the car was going to shift down to 2nd. I never want that to happen again. My sister was following me, and I told her to keep her distance in case my car decided to drop down to 2nd. I kept it in 2nd gear most of the trip to the dealer.
The dealer had a rental agreement with a local rent-a-car place. They were able to get me into a Ford Focus free of charge, but I was able to step-up to the Grand AM SE for 10 more dollars a day. They rental place told me the dealer only gives them 28 dollars/day, and anything more is out of my pocket. All I can say is I really miss my TL-S already. The stupid Grand AM’s rev-limiter kicks in at 5900RPM. You believe that!!!!! The TL-S makes the Grand AM’s V6 feel like a 3 cylinder metro.

You're getting screwed on the rental. I got the pick of the litter on my rental. Didn't pay a cent. I turned down a Grand Am cuz the smoke smell was to bad, and took a Stratus instead. Was really glad to get my TL-S back tho!! Others have gotten dealer loaners. You probably just need to speak up.
