Unhappy Is my tranny dying?

What I noticed today : I turned my car on and started driving - took a long time to shifted from 3rd gear in to 4th, RPMs went to 5-6K. This happen at least 2 times.
Is my tranny dying?

I've got 73K - on first tranny

Thats a possiblity
Check the trans dipstick- smell burned?
go drive at 25 and 35 light throttle and stomp the gas and hold it down. Does the revs jump or struggle to get in the correct gear?

Are you covered by the 7+9/109k miles warranty
not all 03 are automatically- you just have to talk with the dealer Servoce MANAGER ONLY

Take it to the dealer and explain all of the symptoms you have noticed to the Service Mgr. They will take it for a long test drive and attempt to duplicate them. If they can reproduce the symptoms, (and assuming you're not out of the VIN range and/or warranty limits) you get a new transmission!

I'm at about 700+ miles right now and so far, so good.

Does your TL has a salvage title? If not, Acura has offered good will coverage for some or even all of the repair costs for out-of-warranty transmissions.

See the Tranny Failure thread for more details before you go to the dealer.

Good luck.

When I took mine in, it would act the same way. Sometimes it would act up and then sometimes it wouldn't. I told the dealer's transmission guy about it and he said that's how it begins. They took it for a test drive and 50 miles later, I was told it was time for a new transmission.

By the way, I was over on time but under on mileage for the warranty and they took care of it. Talk to the service manager and ask him to call Acura to see if they can help you out.

Tell them to rethink the labor issue- you are inside miles (109k) but over VIN range I am guessing and they said 50k trans warranty
- so what=
They know (acura corp) that the VIN cutoff was only to settle the court case and get people some transmissions!
You should be covered under goodwill 100%
Did you deal with the Service MANAGER????
or the bonus pay seeking service (sales)writer- who is often NOT a car person or tech in any way.
