well, lately i haven't been driving my car, b/c i let my dad borrow it and i've been taking our tahoe.... well yesterday my dad comes in and says theres something wrong with my tranny and he wanted me to check it out.... so i take a ride in it, and it seems fine, then i'm at a red light stopped.... when it's time to go i press on the gas, and it inces forward but revs all the way to 6k rpm.... i'm like wtf? so i pulled over and restarted it and it worked again... so today i brought it in and Walker Acura says i'm getting a new tranny, this is the second one, since mine has been replaced just this past october.... well at least this time they didn't give me a focus, i got a RSX and man is that thing SLOWWW....

 

This time you'll get the new pcm thingy and it will be like buttah!

I think he meant a new ECU which controls the electonic shifting points. When they did yours in October they were already replacing ECUs so you should already have it. The differences are twofold with the newer programming: the car will not try to upshift into 5th gear at 40mph (a good thing since that puts excessive strain on the engine bearing) and secondly, the 1/2 - 3/4 second delay in the shift between 2nd and 3rd is eliminated in sport shift mode.

i just bought a 03 tl type s, and sometimes the transmission seems like it shifts werid and downshifts werid. have any of you guys noticed this? does anyone know of any symphoms that are given off from these bad trans? i kinda regret buying this car now that i found out about this major problem, good thing its covered under warranty. but i was more worried about the trans going out after my warantee was up. also, have any of you guys had problems with your cruise control not working?

 

well your tranny will probably fail before your warranty runs out, if indeed u have defective tranny.... so i think u'll be fine, b/c acura has fixed the problem so the replacement should be fine and last......

 

I was wondering how the cruise control wprk too cause when i went like 40 and turned it on i thought it suppose to stay at 40 but it goes down slowly

 

i dunno, my cruise control worked fine.... just bring it in to the dealorship, if something is defective with your cruise control, it should be underwarranty....

 

I thought cruise control only worked if your going 60 mph or higher.......unless i read something wrong in the manuel

 

mine i can get it @ 35 mph, the only time i do that is when the patrol is behind my ass on a 35 mph road

 

25mph on my 99 TL for the cruise control, any lower and it won't kick in.
