My TL-P is overrated???

whenever somebody sees my car they automatically assumes it's a type-S, almost 9 out of 10 guys, esp when i am on the track~

and their reaction always is "oh it's not a type-S?? i thoguth it's a type-S"

that shows most of the ppl do not know the difference between the regular and the type-S

anyone has such situations b4? with ppl think ur car is a type-S?

well seeing how the type s and p can look very similar to someone who doesnt know any different its easy to see how they could confuse the two.

the only visible differences are the wheels (which you have changed) and seats...

Well, that doesn't mean they don't know the difference between the two models.

I know the differences, but I thought it was a Type-S. From the outside, the only way to tell is the wheels, and you had already swapped those out with the TSX ones. So until I saw the interior, I thought it was a Type-S.

Now why would I make that assumption? I just don't see that manyPremium owners modifying their cars as much as Type-S owners. The Type-S is a better foundation for modifying, and it would be a natural human error to assume that it was a Type-S. Nothing wrong with modifying a Premium, though. Who cares as long as you like it? It's your car.

It is impossible to tell from outside the car (assuming you can't see the seats) whether it's a P or S if you've replaced the rims. My car is stock so no one ever has a problem distinguishing between it.

BTW Dark Inspire, that Maybach coupe you have as your avatar... am I the only one who, if I owned it, would be tempted to shout "..TO THE BATMOBILE!" to passengers?

i have been asked that dozens of times and I have stock tl-p rims, most people don't have a clue. a stock tl-p should beat a stock prelude SH, but it would be close, they are between 195-200HP not 210 though.

I am positive. since a 2001 Prelude has:
Horsepower (hp @ rpm): 200 @ 7000
Torque(lb.-ft. @ rpm): 156 @ 5250

But a TL-P has:
Horsepower (hp @ rpm): 225 @ 5600
Torque(lb.-ft. @ rpm): 215 @ 470

AND that proves that TL is way FASTER

Ummm.. you don't take anything but HP and TQ figures into account? Weight, gearing, etc be damned?

Torque is calculated based on weight and HP. So I believe a car with a greater torque is actually FASTER.

Hmm, if I'm not mistake the torque for manual on dyno is greater than automatic on dyno? So, there must be some lost to transmission. Plus, my question was "the prelude with intake, header, and exhaust and maual vs. stock Tl-P" not stock AT vs. stock AT. Sorry for confusion. In addition, prelude is ~3000 lbs vs tl ~3500lbs.

Oh well, I lost to my friend prelude once but I had extra 400lbs on my car in addition to 500lbs of the difference between the two (total of 900lbs). Not to mention, he had manual car with i/e/h and mine is stock. Oh well, it can't be direct comparasion anyway, one is sport and another is luxury.

No matter what, I still love my car In addition, I have smoother and more comfortable ride .

Anyway, if I were for speed, I would pick s2k instead of tl.

That's too general, too black and white, too just plain ignorant.

Torque is calculated based on weight? How is that?

You need to do some serious reading and comprehending before you start talking about this stuff as if you're an expert.

How do you explain the S2000 being faster than the TL?

Say what???? Torque has nothing to do with weight.

If all cars with more torque were faster, then most SUV's out there would be laying waste to all of us at every single light.

Talking

Sorry guys for the wrong assumption!
But I still think that a stock TLP-P will beat a 2001 Prelude with mods.

99-01 TL VS 02-03 TL/TL-S
_______________________________
Headlights--larger, bolder

Taillights--orange vs. clear signal lights
Rims

A few other things....here and there..

Most important give aways would be tailights and front end..and rims, but ppl change those out so much.

i think a prelude with i/h/e Manual would beat a stock tl-p and maybe even a modded one(good race). BUTTT its all on the driver, the car can loose to a geo metro if the person dont know how to drive. A buddy of mine has i/e in his prelude and ran a 14.5. I think him driving his ride would beat a modded tl-p. Oh wait, lol i have a modded tl-p... Time to race my buddy in the lude? lol we'll see... If I loose i'll race him in the se-r

What about these two?

04 Accord Coupe EXV6 5 speed Auto
Horsepower (hp @ rpm): 240 @ 6250
Torque(lb.-ft. @ rpm): 212 @ 5000

02-03 TL-P 5 speed Auto +/-
Horsepower (hp @ rpm): 225 @ 5600
Torque(lb.-ft. @ rpm): 216 @ 4700

Accord has more HP , but less torque and also high RPM

Quick Reply: My TL-P is overrated???
