it doesnt matter what brand or how fast, the player just doesnt like cd-r's you may find a brand that plays fine, but the next time they wont play. your best bet is to either get the headunit replaced or to get a aftermarket HU

Please stop recommending cd brands. All major cdr brand uses different sources for blank media. So while one pack will work another type of the same brand might not.

Most Bose HU for 99-01 TLs have this problem and it's a very known issue. Acura will replace it underwarranty if you are still covered. I had mine replaced and my new HU plays every brand CDRs I throw at it. I also know one person who had their HU replaced but it still didn't play CDRs........so I guess it's the luck of the draw. There are many solutions to this problem.
1) HU replaced under warranty.
2) 02-03 TL 6 disc HU, make sure you didn't get the CL HU because they look the same but won't work in our TL.
3) Acura OEM CD changer
4) Blitzsafe adapter w/ compatible CD changer.
5) After market HU
