Not sure if this problem has been tackled on here...I tried to do a search but got nothing. Is there a special glue that I can use that will be gentle on the paint? Has anyone thought of removing the stripe? Not sure if its under the clear.
Thanks

pinstripes are for camaros hehehe. Careful if your car is dark colored or you'll have a hell of a scratch if you use something sharp to take it off...

How long have the pinstripes been on? Anything more than a few weeks and you remove them, you may have shadows left. Sometimes the paint is raised under the pinstripe. Sometimes the color is different. My '91 Legend had painted stripes that faded. Some place the stripes were OK and some places, they were total faded away. Sal Zaino recommended oven cleaner to remove them. It did but left a dull finish. A little, well a lot, of random orbitial application of 3M Swirl Mark Remover helped it a lot. I can't recommend oven cleaner!!! Your's are taped. So, don't use the oven cleaner. For a couple of methods for removing taped pin stripes, see my thread

This was a 3 week old car. I'm not sure how old the car was on the dealer's lot with the stripes applied. Maybe a total of 6 weeks? On some sections, there is a slight shadow. You have to look really close to notice it. I'm hoping they will fade over time. Good luck.

My tl is a 99 and I aquired it early this year. Color is Taff/White... I imagine that there will be a difference. Do all our cars come with pin stripe?

Okay I did it!! It peeled right off and left a little residue but rubbing with my finger paint blends perfect. Thanks for all the advise. Tomorrow I'll do a thorough car wash.

Just go to the dealer and ask them to give you a new set of stripes. They're SO CHEAP by the way. It's just not easy lining them up correctly.
Try using a blow dryer at a low setting and see if you can melt some of the glue to the curling edge. Or you can use a very tiny piece of 3M double sided tape.

My '00 is dark green (don't know "official" Acura name for it). Bought it used a couple of weeks ago with painted on stripes. Don't mind the stripes too much - the wife loves 'em.
My suggestion: If you want pinstripes on your car, go for the painted ones. They don't peel and they usually look a lot less tacky than the stuck on kind. The only thing you have to watch out for is too much buffing in their general area. It's not hard to buff the suckers right off the car!
