my headlights!
my headlights!
What can be the problem here. Let me explain to ya what happened. I was driving my car for about 30 mins, Parked it, Got out and see that only one headlight was on. The reason why i saw my headlights were still on was because i usually leave my headlights on day and nite. So when i got outta my car, my lights still had another 10 secs or so b4 it would shut off thnx to the technology of Honda
, well anyways, yea one of my headlights were off (passenger side as a matter of fact), so quickly i went back into my car and turned it off and on once again and it was fine. Is dis a beginning to a problem or maybe a loose wire? i dont get it.... can someone please shed some light. And sorri for the poorly written essay.
That's my bet. I don't really know how much a ballast costs, do you?
Or it could be the ignitor, I suppose. If the Xenon bulb doesn't get the sudden jolt it needs to start up, it can't. There's really no way to know without taking it to the dealer.

I just read it again, like the other guy said. I think it is the ballast or just the wiring getting old. You use it all day and all night so i figure there is much more wear and tear on it before others.
I agree with 03CoupeV6. Whatever the case, you can get a replacement (used) part for maybe $100 or $100 and change? Best way to test yourself is use a spare ballast to repeat the problem. Assuming it happens all the time, repeatable, it makes it much easier.
It needs about 150Ws of juice, close to 10A+

Definitely an odd problem, but I've read lots of posts about HID problems recently. Whatever happened to "lasts the useful life of the car."?
Also, by running them 100% of the time you will shorten the life of all the equipment.

Definitely! This (below) might be what happened to you but I think it is the ballast first before the wiring.
I had my friend which had problems firing up the passenger side or driver side HIDs. These were the aftermarket philips kits. We tested the ballasts and it all worked fine and we finally came to the conclusion that it was the wiring. He used the stock wiring harness to mount it and I guess the thin wires overtime wore thin.
We hooked it up directly to the battery and it fires up even better and less flicker when starting.

thnx, but im not sure if u can tell wat the problem is considering the fact that it only happened to me once last nite. i coulda swore both lamps were on tho... could my driving/bumps loosen something? but then again if a wire is loose. how would it turn back without tighten back a wire? or soemtoing
it could just fall back into place or just because the contact wasnt that good and a few tries just gets it in. Kind of like starting a car especially an older one that takes a few tries. see if it happens again
Had the same problem with my HID conversion foglights. It's most likely the ballast going bad.
They only have a certain lifetime, so I would highly recommend against having them on day and night.

:iagree: Like I said... it's probably a ballast that will die soon, and we all recommend using them only when you need to. HIDs in the daytime don't even look any different than normal lights, anyway. If you want some extra visibility, run your parking lights - it will help some.
I tried looking up the price for new ballasts and got results all over the map, from $150 to $750.

I had this same problem with my Headlights, one would randomly turn off, I checked the connection to the battery and it was corroded, so I cleaned it up and it was fine, Although my TL is older, 99 with 100K miles, I think I would still check it just to make sure!

I had the same problem when I installed hid's into my friends supra tt. All I had to do was replace the relay (no more than $10 or so at auto parts store). They've worked fine ever since.
I had a similar problem. Swapped the right and left bulbs and the same bulb either went out or flickered even after I switched it. Ended up getting new bulbs and haven't had a problem since. So it is possible you may actually have a dying bulb . . .
On mine when you shut the lights off and back on again quickly the passenger side won't come on. Seems like if you let it cool it a few minutes it will come on. More of just a pain than a big deal for me so I haven't dove into it yet but keep us posted on what you find out...
