Unhappy My first scratch! It's only 3 mo. old!

I wanna die! The parking lot was dark, my car was full and the aisle between rows was small. I was "carefully" backing out of my diagonal space. I didn't see the dark car with it's nose too far out. With those huge bolts sticking out of the license frame/bracket. My soft thin skinned bumper was no match for an old rusted bolt, even at low backup speed. :wow:
If that other car was nose in as it should have been in a diagonal spot, the touch would have been soft bumper to soft bumper, no harm. It was not to be. My baby is only 3 months old, far too young for such an ugly scar. I'm afraid to find out what a repair will cost, they'll probably want to total the car! I'm depressed!

it's not an M5 so don't worry about it. Cars get dinged up, there is no way around it. Once you fix that someone will probably put a nice door ding in it for ya.

It's no M5, but it is his car. You don't get all fussed up for something you work hard for?

jbs, I feel for you man...

Ouch...just gotta be more careful next time.

Hope nothing happened to the other car either. My first scratch was to my rims...it hurt me real bad. The scratch was pretty deep too. At least yours is easier to fix..get yourself some touch up paint and your good to go.

It's silly, mine's parked out in the school's student parking lot most of the time, only really gets to see some real road time when I do the 3.5 hour drive home every 3 or 4 weeks. A university student parking lot... the car's been fine. Last time I take it home, some idiot dings the passenger side door in the 5 minutes I'm in Blockbuster. Fine, I knew a ding would happen eventually... but I got a good amount of some crazy pink paint lodged in my paint! Sigh... scratch remover got it out and the paint's back to its original beautiful silver, but I've got that stupid ding there still. I could get it out, but I think there's a flat rate for up to 4 dings per panel... when I get another two or three I'll take it in for paintless dent removal

It'll happen. Unless it's really really visible, I wouldn't worry about the damage. Wait a year or so and fix everything you've gotten up to that point at once, and it'll feel like your driving a new car again

Here's a real sad story

Okay,
yours was a walk in the park compared to mine buddy. I bought my TL-S, last October, and had to wait three months for the color I wanted, cause it was on backorder. Anyway, so I get it, and had it for not more then three weeks, when one night, I'm leaving the Gym at my University, and making a right turn, and a girl runs a red light at about 60, in a 25, and takes out my entire front end. The car, was so new, that I had people saying owwwwch, when I stated the year to the officer taking the report. Anyway, two and a half months later, after fighting to get the money from her insurance, I finally roll the car out of the dealer once again, fixed and brand new looking, but with a hurt ego. So two days ago, I have my car parked out in front of my shop (way out back where I always park it, so I get no door dings), and, some idiot who doesn't know how to make a right hand turn, takes out the back bumper on the passenger side, and leaves without saying anything to me or anyone else. So today, after a $856.00 paint, and install bill incuding parts from the dealer (thank God, I have a dealer licence for parts)...I roll my car out tomorrow to have the Mugen Rear Wing Spoiler installed. Wow, thats a long story, but just to make you feel better, after having my car for a total of about 4 and a half months, I only have 3k miles on it, cause of all the time its been in the body shop at the dealer, and at my shop on the lift getting the mods done. Oh yeah, by the way, the cost for total repair on the car, the first time was approx. $8,500.00 Yeah...seriously sad story right.

C'mon importcult, we were talking about dings and dents here That really sucks man. People just have no respect for property.

I must admit that when I was younger and less experienced (ok, it was a year ago and I was driving the land boat of a Land Rover Discovery my parents let me borrow) my brush bar took a nice swipe at a parked CR-V, leaving a nice dent in the rear quarter. Sure the bars may be nice for brush, but they really help damage skyrocket when you're the one causing it. Anyway, I waited and traded insurance info with the driver because I'm not a jackass like the guy who smashed your bumper. Hell, that's what insurance is for. I'm only 21 and the cost isn't even that painful after doing something blantantly your fault. Live and learn.

lol...
well you're one in a million buddy, I have no luck with cars, my last few Civics were like money eaters, I had them in the shop every few weeks, and the paint guys loved me. Now, it seems like the same thing with this car....I'm scared already. Anyway, BTW, I'm 22, and between my car payment and the insurance (who doesn't like it when I call at all), I pay about a G a month.....

Thanks for the sympathy and stories. I'll try cleaning up the damage this weekend. The other guy basically has a little extra silver paint on his bolt head, no damage. I'm always nervous until I get the first ding, I just didn't want it to be so soon.

It's bizarre. I am a damgage obsessor too. I used drive my wife crazy parking my M3 10 spots away from the nearest car. Never got a ding in 3 years of ownership. Phew!

Then I got an Expedition (hunting vehicle). Damn thing FILLS a parking spot, especially the little suckers in the parking garages. Didn't care where I parked it - got ONE ding in 3 years.

Now in the TLS, I'm back to my M3 ways. The first one WILL suck, but it's inevitable.
