what do you mean it jerks? does the steering wheel shake when you apply the brake while moving?? we need a little more info. oh and odds are its not your tranny and more than likely warped rotors

If it jerks AS you stop as opposed to WHILE you're stopped, it sounds like your rotors are very warped.

my TL did the same thing when downshifting to first while coming to a stop. Went away after they changed a busted tranny and motor mount.

I've had that happen to me in my previous car while braking. It was due to warped rotors. You should get them checked and replaced if thats the problem. Just my 2cents..

make sure you "bed" the new pads and rotors in. Read up or due a www search on "breaks bedding-in"

true, but follow your pads' recommendations about bedding-in process, cauz sometimes it may do more harm then good.
