wait for the 04 and get your money back from insurance for the mods...as long as you have your receipts, you can probably get the money back...

sorry to hear that.. Just curious though, I thought the TL has a shut off mechanism that doesn't allow the car to be started with out the key? ... and also if you have the navi, (your car seems to be new) don't you get 1 free year of onstar don't they have a gps tracing system? ...... I could be wrong just asking

yes I'm very interested in how they stole it too. Maybe it was like in that movie Gone in 60 seconds where someone at the dealer ordered some keys or something. Maybe one of the shop guys that did all the work on your car scoped it out and rigged it to bypass the shut off mechanism. Those guys with the TVs have to mess around with all those electronics you know....
J/k... I love a good conspiracy theory.

I don't think the onstar or navi gives it tracing capability... we got that tracer thingi on ours though... whats it called? Anyway it was $10 extra a month on the lease to have it.

And they chased and lost your TL? That says something about its ability to outrun a cop car.
Well sucks for you, hope you get a new one soon. I still prefer the 03 to the 04 though.

I am pretty sure the basic "Safe and Sound" package I got free for a year included the locating service.

Did you have navigation?

I DONT THINK THE TLS COULD BE JACKED...SINCE THE KEY IS CPU CHIPPED...EVEN IF SOMEONE DUPLICATED THE KEY FROM ANYWHERE EXCEPT DEALERSHIP...U CANT EVEN START THE CAR TOO...I MADE A KEY FROM HOME DEPOT BEFORE AS A SPARE...I TRIED IT...WONT WORK...ALSO IF U HAVE NAVI...ALL U NEED TO DO IS CALL 911...ONCE THE ONSTAR GOT THE POLICE REPORT...THEY WOULD TRACK IT ASAP...

Insurance only gives you the current value of the car, not the finance pay-off amount (if you financed it). Then again, same story on the lease, as well (remaining lease payments).

I think we're lucky that Acura includes the Gap insurance on every car. If this were to happen without Gap, then you would be upside down.

Sucks to hear about your car. I hope they recover it in original condition, or find it stripped out, so you don't get a stolen car back. Good luck.

Exactly. You wouldn't believe how many people are shocked to find that they still owe the bank $10,000, even after we've paid them the actual cash value of the car.

The basic OnStar package includes vehicle theft tracking on the Safe and Sound plan. I made sure of this before I bought it. Check out OnStar's website.

I am curious as to how it was stolen too? With the immobilizer system and all that. My bet, someone cased your car out for awhile and did their homework. Basically, if they want a car bad enough, they will get it unless it's kept in Ft Knox.

The dealership scenario sounds very possible. Lots of shady azz people in the world.

I'm really bummed to hear that. I noticed that the TL's are no where to be found in the top vehicle stolen lists. I know this may not mean much now, but perhaps the old saying may be true in your case..everything happens for a reason.

Good luck!!

Sorry to hear about this, like the rest of the people I'm curious abot how it got stolen, can you answer this? Well, when the cops recover the car if they do anyway, because this presents a serious issue for all of us thinking that our cars are somewhat secure and that's not the case. Sure if somebody wants to get the car they will get it but it shouldn't be so easy. Good luck and get another one I'm sure you know is a great car.

nice to know it can outrun a cop.. The 260 HP VROOM VROOM

Those fords couldn't keep up..

For you people that said its hard to steal the car, I heard the immobilizer system can be shut down very easily, I dont rmr where I heard it, but thats what I heard..

So if you have OnStar and dont pay for it, they can still help you out? and let you track your car?

I want to know why your first "mod" wasn't an upgraded security system!

Oh well, I wish you better luck on your next new car.

So these cops must be using PRE-CRIME or something... How do they know your car got stolen and you didn't know? Or did you...?

Doode, so sorry to hear about your ordeal. A stolen car makes you feel raped.

I think he's probably dealing with the insurance company's special investigations unit. He's got a brand new car, probably with a huge loan on it, he probably told the insurer about all his mods, and he probably also told them about the TL's extensive security system.

With all that in mind, how could an adjuster not look into it a little deeper?

I think the TL-S is awesome....but I don't think I could outrun cops with it...specially if they have a helicopter in pursuit...most police agencies have access to one, and for a chase, they'll most likely use it. So if where dealing with a crook, he'd be as skilled as michael shumacher (ferrari F1 pilot), a master of acura electronics, and one lucky thief who had everything on his side....I smell something funny....but then again, if it did happen, that sux....I'd feel sorry for you. Even without Lojack or GPS tracking, running from cops in hot pursuit isn't that easy...

Well, it's easy to lose the cop in residential areas. I was riding in my friend's 350Z one time going up a hill in a LaJolla residential area. He was going a tad bit fast and a cop coming from the other direction lit up and proceeded to flip a *****. My friend made a quick right turn onto a side street and we ended up losing the cop.

In had the exact same thing happen to me. I was travelling at 100 km/h in a 60 km/h zone, and it was late at night. the cop was going the opposite direction, and as soon as he passed me, his lights and flashers went on. So I quickly swirved left, and made a left at the next light, going into a residential area.

Then I went onto another street, pulled into a driveway, and turned the car off, and ducked in my seat. I waited for about 7 min, and no cop came....so I was so lucky!!!
