Day before yesturday my buddy picked up his new Type R. Comes over to my house to show me the car and tells me there is a TL Type S in the showroom!! I was freakin. So ofcource took my lunch break a took a ride over to Esserman Acura in Miami to see the long awaited TL-s. When I got there they had it in the showroom with the rear end to me and I saw the type S emblem I was excited, thinking maybe I would take it for a spin. Well guess what...... It was the 2000 standard TL! What they did was take the TL, throw a factory spoiler and tail kit, threw on the cl-s wheel package, and attached a Type S emblem. And the worst is that it was sold. I gave the dumb act about the car and the salesman told me the sticker was 35,050.00 but they gave the guy the car for 33,000.00. By the way no nav. And ofcourse no 260hp, no new front end, no memory seats. Totally blew me away. Poor sap!! I truly hope they aren't going to make a habit of selling these tl's w/ a badge to people thinking they are getting the rocket. They are going to be in a for a suprise when they try to take a tl's or a supped up Tl for that matter. I know it would not happen to anyone on this sight cause we know what the car is coming with but just keep your eyes out for that crap. Man what a let down. Told the salesman that it was crap and said if he had any more emblems so I cam transform my Tl into TL's, and he laughed. He said you know the company gives them what they sell. He went on to tell me he knew about the new Tl's and that they think they will be in sometime in March!! We will see. Maybe I will just hold out and get the RL Type S!!!! Sorry for the long post thought it was interesting info.
That's unreal, and probably also fraud, depending on what they told the person who bought it. Thank goodness we on this board are all well informed or this could have happened to us.

Yo, check it out. Just bought a Type-S the other day. It was in the show room. Man was it sweet. The guy said it was 35,050 but he have it to me for only $33,000. Too bad it didn't have the NAV. I can't wait wait to be the first with that 260hp........

I don't know about that...I think maybe your friend is playing a practical joke on you. What dealer is stupid enough to do that. If they did they would be looking at a big lawsuit.

The dealer is stupid enough to sell a riced out TL to the guy. If they told me that it was an Type-S, and give me a riced out TL... Turst me, I will sue their ass off. But I guess the guy had no idea about that....

Man, that is TOTAL fraud, and the corporate folks at Acura would sure be interested to know one of their dealers is pulling fast ones like that.
If I were O'sTL, man, I'd call Acura and narc on this dealer big time. Stuff like this could soil Acura's reputation just when things are starting to heat up a bit. Help put an end to it by DOING something about it!

You should call the National Acura USA toll free number and file a complaint for misrepresenting the car!

Technically they can sell it with whatever badges they want as long as they don't represent it as a true Type S. I've seen this done a few times.
At Acura of South Florida they had an Integra LS onto which they put a Type R spoiler, aftermarket wheels, pedals, springs, etc and billed it as an "LS-R". The asking price: $25,500
A buddy of mine works at Braman Honda in Palm Beach... one day while I was waiting to talk to him I noticed a girl walking around the showroom looking at 2 different Civics. She was kinda talking (out loud) to herself and couldn't figure out why a Civic EX (factory stock) was less than the brand new Civic Type R coupe they had on hand. As it turns out, of course, it wasn't a real Type R, but a DX coupe with aftermarket wheels, Type R decals and blue flex-loom over all of the underhood wires/hoses. They were asking almost the same for that as the EX Coupe (within $300 of each other).
I hope for the buyer's sake that they know what they're really getting.

And believe me... dealers are plenty "stupid" enough to do that. Keep in mind that most general consumers don't know jack about cars. No one on a message board would fall for this but A LOT of regular Joe's sure would.
