Hay your stealing that from me
Really I got the heads up on that from Dave at Godspeed. He says that is the first thing he does with his Integra's/Civics. Put in a thermostat and something else, I forgot what it was. It makes the engine run cooler. Engine runs cooler, more horsepower

Just a warning, don't get too carried away with a cooler thermostat. I let my car cool off too much one time I was at the dragstrip, (Thinking if a cooler engine is better, then a LOT cooler engine will be best!) and my car went into "warmup" mode, and I got a really crappy time. I ran a 17 sec 1/4 mile. If the ECU thinks the engine isn't warmed up "enough" it seems to hold the rpm's for an extra half second before it actually shifts into the next gear. Its hard to explain, but just hop in your car first thing in the morning and floor the gas peddle down a straight away and watch your rpm's when your car tries to shift into 2nd gear.

If the thermostat and not the ECU is what causes this behavior to happen, then please excuse my ignorance while I attempt to stick both feet in my mouth.

I don't think Mugen has a thermostat for the TL. It use lets the coolant flow alot sooner, that's all. Let say the stock thermostat releases at 200 degrees, well, the Mugen one might release at 180 degrees.
