Mud Gaurd Removal= BAD at least for me

So I wanted to remove my mudgaurds cause I thought that it would look better without them. While I was doing it my neighbor came over drunk (as usual) and was telling me it was a bad idea cause I'm gonna get nicks on the side of my car.

Well, because he was drunk I kinda just shrugged him off, and did it anyway.

The guy was right. I drove to work for three days with them off, and now I have all types of little chips in my paint on the drivers door. So today at work I'm gonna put them back on.

Any of you guys have any problems like this. Maybe it's cause my car isn't lowered or anything. Or it could be the fact that I drive on a dying road with potholes and loose gravel galore.

Just gotta deal with it. I have maybe 15-25 chips in about a 3x3in area behind the front passenger side wheel. Never had the mud guards before, so I don't if what you say is true. No marks on the driver's side though.

It definitely depends on the type of roads you drive on.

If i drive on gravel, I would go slow to make sure I won't shoot up any gravel.

so far I only had one small chip... but I have the stock kit on and i believe stock kits don't fit well with mud guards...

Wow!! I had mine of for three years and never an issue. I do have the body kit though, so maybe that takes all the abuse, but no rock chips for me and I live in Colorado where broken windshields and rocks on the road are a part of life 'round here.

Question, do you have aftermarket wheels? If so, the lower offset is putting your wheels out further and exposing your precious paint when rocks go flying.

For the most part the road I drive to work is nice, but there is this section where it is just terrible. People have bent their rims on the potholes. I dont have aftermarket rims, and I'm not lowered. I think if I had it lowered it probably wouldn't be like this, or if I had one of the lip kits. I'm gonna put my mud gaurds on in like 10 minutes, so I wont have to worry about it.

Sounds like dumb luck. What do your fenders look like? Usually if you dont pull those off right away new they cut the paint on the fenders where they are mounted

Yeah they cut the paint, but it's really not that noticeable........ or at least that is what I tell myself. When I get the money I plan on repainting it anyway, but who knows when that will be. The mud gaurds are back on now, and I dont really like the way they look but better that, then having my door get worse.
