Motor Mount

I took my car in and the guy there told me I needed a right motor mount which costs around 200 bucks according to him. What is it and any thoughts about a cheaper replacement? Any1 have this same problem?

Which right?? The passenger side? If that's the case, then it's very easy to replace.

No. 7 in the diagram. You can get one for $52.51 and do it yourself if you know your way around a car. If not, call up some local shops and ask for quotes. I don't imagine this being any more than a half-hour job.

If it's the driver side engine mount, then it's $102.04 (No. 6 in the diagram) and it'll be slightly more expensive to install due to its location.

You can also call up Tim Poliniak at Ray Laks Acura (official vendor on this forum) at 1-888-RAY-LAKS and ask for a price quote. He has excellent prices and he's a great guy to deal with. In fact, I get all my OEM parts from him.

Oh, I forgot to mention. www.acuraautomotiveparts.org is where I got those prices. Just click on Acura on the left of the screen, then select the info on the pull-down menus. It's under "Engine Mount" in the last pull-down menu.

Somehow I had three busted ones when I took my car in to have the tranny replaced.

I honestly couldn't feel anything, maybe a slightly rough idle, but nothing that concerned me. Maybe they were just starting to go.

Got all three replaced for $400, since the engine was out of the car already I saved on labor.

PA,
How many engine mounts do we have totally? I thought we had 3 engine mounts: right, front, and rear. Am I missing one on the driver's side?

I guess we have 4..the major one is in the front. I just got it checked out and I need to replace the front motor mount and passenger side one also. I got quoted for about 300 to replace both since replacing the front mount is tought. My car kinda jerked when excelerating and he showed me what happens when I am driving...kinda like my engine wanted to JUMP out lol

Really? I didn't know that. Suppose it makes sense, where the tranny is.

Regardless the dealer cut me a brake on the labor costs for the mounts since they were doing the tranny.

I just figured they had to pull the engine since that's what they had to do on my last car.

All they have to do is support the engine and they can do it with out removing it

Sorry for bringing up an old post.

Rob:

I have confirmation from Tim, and he says the front motor mount is part #50810-S87-A81. This part number corresponds with #5 in the diagram.

See link below for part number and diagram number.

i tried the method where you park the car and rev the engine to see if it shakes, but it shook only a little, so how else can you tell of you need a new engine mount, and which one is broken? i know i need a new passenger side mount b/c my dealer said so the last time i went in and b/c i hear this "clunking" sound when i go over small bumps.

but i want to know for sure which ones are broken, i was looking at the broken mount, but how can't even tell it's broken..

By reving did you put it in gear and slowly raise the rpm to see if the motor lifted alot?

you need a vacum tester to see if they mounts are bad.
the P-side one you should be able to inspect and see if the rubber is tearing and cracking
