Overkill... but hey... so is synthetic oil... you paid $30k+ for a car... treat her right 
Hell.. even when I had the grandprix... fully synthetic oil and filter... cost me like $25/change... vs. like $8 ... and I dont even have the car anymore!
Most of the time... you wont even have your car after 3 years... so it is pointless.. but if you plan to keep your car for a very long time.. or put a great deal of milage on it.. then I say its worth it.
And synthetic oil dosnt do much since these cars dont run really high compression or stay at high RPMs for extended periods of time.. cept for a few (AC and PhiTL
