Welp, we can take this several different ways, but there is one glaring definite:
I cannot drag race for shi+!
Before I get into that, just some info for everyone. I have a couple of pics I'll upload and post later. No videos. There were two Honda Civics w/ turbo and street tires running 12's all night. A killer last-gen RX-7 than ran 3 times--ALL 10.7xx and destroyed everything. It was also on street tires and came complete with McDonalds bags all over the interior. No harnesses, cage--nothing. My god it was fast. Many Mustangs and 'vettes here. Not that impressed, but one 'vette that seemed to be ordinary, was finally driven by someone else who posted an 11.3xx. Wow.
There were no brackets so I got to run a variety of cars. My friend's GSR turned 15.4xx all night with 17's, and h/i/e. His RT's were all .15 and less so the night or track seemed to sap many cars energy. I got beat by a G35 couple with i/e who ran 14.0xx all night. He was shooting for 13's and never got there. it was a manual. A new Pontiac GP s/c was there with a high boost pulley and he said he had changed his tranmission and other stuff. He a$$r@ped me with a 12.903 at 103mph and a 2.097 60'. Wow. He fried his tranny though! I beat several Mustangs and lost to a couple by a .10 or .20 twice.
I've done the auto-x before, did a driving school, driven Daytona...I drive pretty d@mn good. I might never turn the fastest time, but I get the apexes right, learn the car, pass where appropriate, etc...I drive a manual even better. But getting the hang of gate shifting or using s/s when focussed on the clock at the strip--and 99 other variables (tree, slip, steering wheel) to shave tenths of a second off, welp, I suck...
Okay, here's the skinny: it was 63 degrees when we arrived, 60 when we left; about a 5mph NE wind (track runs W to E), 72% humidity...It was not as cool as I hoped, and the humidity was higher than I thought it would be. I had 1/2 a tank of gas, left my tires alone (36psi), gym bag and briefcase in the trunk (about 40lbs or so), spare in the car...I got 10 runs in as follows: 3 gate shifting w/o power braking; 3 in s/s and power braking; 2 in full auto stomping it and 2 in full auto with power braking. I used 2000rpms for the pb figure. I have posted 4 slips-1 each of my best times...I had massive wheel hop on every run (Nitto's only have 1200 miles on them) and it screahced second whether gating, auto or s/s every time hard. It must be noted that my worst time of the night was 14.746 but was at 97.14mph. Most of my runs were in the 14.6 range. My best 60' time was .225. Most of my RT's were .3xx which sucks...
Some of you guys know more than me, but I think that if I gate shift correctly, lower my tires pressure to 22psi, get the bags out of the car and keep the gas below 1/4 a tank, and I assume the RT is .15 or less, I should run in the 14.3 range easily...That is what I was hoping for...

I'm a moron...I can't figure out how to post the stupid slips...I photocopied them, scanned them and the image is too large as a jpg, gif, tif-blah, blah blah...
Someone tell me how to do this or I can email them to you and you can add them for me. I'm out of patience...
Not to be a tease, best run is 14.504 @ 96.02mph

I dont know what the hell I was doing wrong when I went to the track...
I was running 15.0xx all night and one 14.9xx.... I took out the spare and s/s all 5 runs...
I only had stone headers at the time... Im going next friday. Lets see what my times are with a AEM cai and a new tranny...

Honestly, I think s/s was the slowest times. First did not seem to shift as high in the rpm range and the shift from 2/3 seems to take longer than when in full auto. Gate shifting clearly gave me better 60' times and is more accurate, but I hit the mf'ing rev limiter either 1/2, 2/3 or both and messed my runs up. I think gate shifting is best, full auto next, then s/s. Another interesting trend--car seemed to run better with back to back runs rather than sitting and wating. Go figure....

Hi my name is Neill. I work with Shaun at Upgrade performance in Tallahassee.
To answer some questions. The engine is an SR20DET from a Nissan Silvia(sp). The turbo manifold is stainless and was fabed here at Upgrade. The intake manifold uses the original base with a top that was also fabed here. The Compter system is from HALTEC.
Anymore questions?? Feel free to ask and I will get them answered.

Hey not too bad apple, I know the night turned out to be a little bit more humid than expected but your times are not too bad. Let me know next time I will like to go to see what I can do. Later man.
That doesnt happen to be the Rx7 that was plastered on Turbo Magazine? It was an RX7 Chassis w/ a jspec SR20DET...
Simply amazing... 1.3 liters to 2.0 sorta like the 13B to 20B conversion. He must know a sh*tload about cars to be able to fabricate and blueprint a Nissan motor in that sucker...
10's are fast... id like to know the specs. Is the SR20DET motor totally stock? Obviously not to run 10's...
I just saw a video of a 1400 RWHP dark blue skyline R33 (the one missing one of its headlights) and it posted an 8 second pass!!!:wow: Id like to see what the RX7 being much lighter is capable of ( i know the engines are diff. R32, and R33 )
If i recall my friend joe has that motor in his 96' 240SX. He did the silvia conversion w/ Turbonetics T66 ball bearing turbo fully built.
He gets no traction on street tires, but w/ drag slicks hes in the 10's.
Someone correct me if im wrong. Im used to B series Jseries etc lol

There was a white 240sx from Orange Park with a Silvia swap and a HUGE turbo, but the car was not tuned and the kid could not drive at all. I felt sorry for him. He was posting high 14's/low 15's al night. It coulda been the same car...
As far as the Mazda, it was completely tricked....
There was an Imprezza posign as a WRX w/ turbo, intercooler, etc. but it was only posting 14.4/14.5 even with AWD...Slow...
Again, if I can figure out gate-shifting better and with lower the psi to 22, I'll post around the 14.3 for sure...

Hi. Neill Again.
The car actually ran an 11.12 at 126 with a TOTALLY STOCK LONG BLOCK!! After a blown head gasket mishap the motor was torn down. Why not stick in some goodies while its apart??
The motor now has a set of small cams, Wiseco pistons and eagle rods. All overkill. but why not?
Last night the car was run at a lower boost than it has been on the dyno. The car also has a nitrous system installed that is not yet in use. Will there be more to come?? You bet. Shooting for some high 10.5's or low 6's next time out.
Thanks for the interest. Keep the questions comeing and I'll keep them answered.

Hey apple, how were ur launches? what were ur 60' times? When I tracked my TL w/ only AEM CAI and HKS draggers on my 19" chrome wheels on the same tires as yours, I hit a low 2.2 60' by just mashing the gas real fast for start off. You need all the torque you can get off the line so you can get a pretty decent 60'. With the 2.2 60', I managed a 14.625@96mph. If I were to get my headers, I'm expecting a 14.2 and maybe a 14.1 stripping out the rear seat, tires, and jack; considering some nice 40 degree weather.
I always use gate shifting b/c you can hold the 1st gear all the way till redline. Sport shifting is a waste of time because you will never get the time that you want.
Your Nitto 555's should give you decent times off the line when u fully break them in. On my 19's, there was a time when I even hit a 2.1 60'. Just practice and I'm sure you can do way better than that, considering you have those Comptech headers.

I ran a 14.7 @ 96.5mph recently w/ my intake and headers.. stock tires have 30k miles on 'em and no hook-up whatsoever. 60ft was best of 2.23 though ... gutted trunk, ran on empty gas light ... i have a slow TL-S

The 60' times ranged from 2.25x-2.34x...I had massive wheel-hop mostly because if the 36psi I run in the Nittos...
I ran into the guys from my local shop yesterday and after reviewing my slips, I should easily get 14.3x by dropping the psi and at least taking the bags of crap outta my trunk and running with a 1/8 tank of gas...Woo hoo!
The track is only open in G'ville to November 2x (something) before having to go further south. I'll go again in the next month or so!

A stock SR20 with proper fuel delivry can handle 22-23lbs of boost. The internals are plenty strong enough. You will need a MSD DIS-4 and individual coils. The plug gap will be around 15.

I've seen an RX-7 up here in Epping run a 10.7 as well. Don't remember the trap though.
I think I'm headed to the track tomorrow and hope to see an improvement from my 15.2 stock run in 80 degree weather and humidity. Wish me luck! Should be 45 degrees and clear.

I hope you kick @$$ in the cold, ferizzo...You doing any track prep to the car? I will definitely have less gas in the tank and lower the tire pressure if nothing else...

No real prepping as I prefer to know how fast the car is as is. The only thing I will do is keep the gas low (under a quarter) and possibly lower the pressure of the front tires to 25psi. I'm leaving the spare because with my luck I'll blow a tire and the track is a good hour - hour and a half away.
The only perf mods you have that I don't are tires and the pulley. You have suspension as well but I would think they are negliable in the quarter.
