miracle of clay bar

ok, for those who have been following, i posted a thread saying that the surface of my car body is getting rough, rough enough for me to feel it. after hearing the opinions i decided to give clay bar a try.

since i didn't want to wait for the clay bar to come from zaino i went ahead and got the mothers clay bar set. i used dawn to washed my car, and then spent about 1 hr claying my whole car. then used z1 and z2..... the old drill.

the result? all i can say is WOW......... it's a miracle. my car is hell smooth now. and it's sooooo shiny! much more shiny than it was. i am very happy about the 3 hrs i spent on the car all the way from washing to polishing.

and of course, kudo to those who inspired me using the clay bar

yup, both my gf and i were amazed at the results. so SMOOTH

and i have given up on using the weather to predict whether i will work on my car or not. it's happened so many times. i don't wash my car and it doesnt' rain. whenever i wash my car it rains like sh8t..... damn...... so another way is to call me up and ask me if i will be washing my car when you are planning on that..

I agree...it was well worth the effort put into doing it. I think I am going to be on a twice-a-year schedule

I just ordered my Zaino supplies...clay bar (taking NSXnext's and others' advice), Z1, Z2, Z6, Z7 (enough to wash the cars regularly after Zainoing). Can't wait! It'll be warmer by the time the stuff arrives....I think I'll be on a twice a year schedule as well.

A trip to your local discount auto parts will get you the mothers clay bar kit for ~15, and Zymol for ~15 too. I use the turtle wax car wash... I know, its cheap shiit but it looks great, I never had probs. Welcome to the clay club!

I slapped on a coat of Turtle Wax's "Finish 2000", their "long-lasting" formula about three weeks ago, just to get me through until I can spend a day putting Zaino on. Its shine is OK but not great, as you can see from the pic below--taken right after polished. It's not holding up too badly against Cleveland road salt and air pollution so far. I didn't clay the car beforehand because (a) the car is so new (and yes, I've heard about the rail dust argument, it's even posted on Zaino's web site!) and (b) the Turtle Wax is just a stopgap, as I say above.

I clay my car twice a year....once in the spring to get all of winter's nasty's off, and once in the fall (just prior to the real cold), and apply a solid waxing of Zaino to last the winter months. I hate impurities and as long as you continue to keep putting protection on top, claying a couple times a year is the way to go IMO.

Congrats on you new found love of CLAY!!!!
