how yall doin, as some of you know, i have a 99tl w/navi. the other day i was hit in the rear by another car, it was a very minor collision, 0mph-6mph. my rear bumper didn't seem to have any damage really, i did notice a small spot around my license plate were paint started to chip, however other then that there is no damage that i see, however i would like to know if there would be any internal damage or frame damage, or any kind of damage that i dont know about?, it was very low speed. professional responces please, thanks guys

 

Most likely the foam core behind the bumper cover absorbed the hit- but it may have deformed in the process. Easy enough to get under the car and check if anything is out of line, remove the bumper cover and inspect.
examples I have seen: bent sway bar end link, exhaust pushed slightly forward and bent main pipe, crack in bumper cover that paint wont cover- needs cover

I hope you got their info and take it to a body shop- most do free estinates and know what gets damaged on a TL in what situation- they see it every day

 

You have to open the trunk and check for paint flake on the sill edges, where panels curve at the back corners- its weak and easily damaged
All your bulbs work? that means you had the brakes on at the time- hot filaments dont shatter. Check for damage to the light housings-cracks

I saw a crash test video on youtube of a 2002 tl being hit in the rear going at 5mph. it doesn't look like much was damaged, the bumper just bounced off of the pole. Probably the only damage is the foam core like 01tl4tl mentioned.

take your car to a body shop and make sure everything is ok- the list I gave is pretty normal damage on other brands, so the tL may suffer the same
I know my car was previously backed into a pole and did $1000 damage to itself!
