MikeB at Comptech
Mike, you don't "have" to change the stock shocks when you install lowering springs. Its just that your stock springs will not last as long due to the extra stress the lowering springs will put on them.
A few members on this board have the stock shocks and Comptech springs installed on their TL's for over a year and are still ok. But I would say in a couple years you will want to change out the shocks with some KONI's or Tokico's

Have never given it a thought, but it would make sense that a more highly compressed shock has higher internal pressures, generates more heat as a result, and won't last as long.

I don't see how the stock shocks will have more stress if the springs are stiffer. If the springs are stiffer doesn't that mean that the shock will work less? Well, I guess you can look at it both ways. But I think the biggest concern is the stock shock bottoming out, since the springs are shorter. But apparently, the shorter Comptech springs are compatible with the length of the stock shock.
