material of TL's seats

Got a question. Are our seats made out of leather and vinyl? Is the rougher surface vinyl? Thx.

Yes and yes.

The inner portions of the seat (where your butt and back touch) are leather while the outer trim is vinyl.

Right. A little bit more to make the TL even better, but they gotta go cheap. That vinyl stuff is tacky, obvious, and makes the car look cheap. I think we woulda paid a bit more to get NO vinyl on the seats. It also won't hold up to wear and tear. Love the car, but those front seats are POS.

I had the vinyl portion replaced recently under warranty. It developed a small tear (about 1 inch in length). Took a whole day for the dealer to fix. That's the problem with vinyl. I just hope it doesn't crack again.

Patrick,

Did they replace all or just that one crack area? They do a good job? Any hassles?

Sam, they just replaced the cracked vinyl only. They did a good job, but I can definite say that there was hassle involved. See, my wife took the car in. When she came back, I wanted to take the TL for a spin. But guess what? In their haste to return the car back to us, the dealer didn't connect the switch for moving the seat forward/backward. As I got long legs, I couldn't move the seat backwards. I had my wife take it back to get it fixed. But that's the only hassle. Dealer is Richmond Acura.

I'd like to eventually switch to Type S seats as cash flow allows however, I'im now thinking it might just be cheaper to have the seats re-uhpholstered -- then i can get 2-tone :-D
