Maintenance Required Light
Maintenance Required Light
I noticed today on my '02 TL-S that the Maintenance Req'd light flashes 10 times after I start the vehicle then goes off. I have never seen this light up like this before in the 20K miles I have owned the vehicle. Car has 115K miles on it and the last oil change was done by myself instead of the dealer.
Suggestions?

it's just a dummy light reminding you to change your oil.
it flashes after 5k miles and stays illuminated after 7500.
have the ignition key in off section, press and hold trip reset, and select buttons and turn the key to the on position (don't start the car) and watch the maint reqd light flash then go away. then let go of the buttons.

trick is to put left hand thru the steering wheel and use it to push and hold in the 2 trip buttons
now turn key ON (dash lights come on) but NOT to start- with right hand
Use eyes to watch mait light flash several times and stop
turn key off- remove arm from steering
Done till next oil change
The dealer tech has been resetting it for you
the light will trip and stay on at a certain mileage when its really close to 7500,,
Freaked my wife out on the freeway at midnight once, Mait light comes on--she got out with the flashlight and looked under the hood and car...nothing she could see wrong so kept driving...LOL
what a great device~
