Question Maintenance Required....

On Saturday night, the 'Maintenance Required' light came on. I am at 15,500 miles, it's 2001 TL.

What could it be? Does this light come on at scheduled mileage intervals or ?

Thanks ahead of time for any and all replies.

I think that it is programmed to come on at scheduled intervals. Hold down the select and reset buttons before you put the key in the ignition and then, while still holding down the buttons, put the key in the ignition and turn the key to the second position and wait until the light turns off.

Thanks for such a quick response.

And for the tip on getting the light off; but should I not be concerned and schedule a dealer visit for maintenance?

I just called the dealership and they charge $221.00 for the maintenance.

Oil change, rotate tires and some other minor stuff.

What do you all think about the price?

It's not worth it. Totally waste of money.

That's what I thought too! I told the guy I would call him back... he wanted badly to schedule a visit right then and there.

Save the money and do the oil change yourself. If you are unsure, there are numerous posts here on how to do it yourself. Besides, your car is under warranty, so don't waste your money on the dealer maintence. That is just another way they make their money

That's REALLY high. My dealer charges $125 for the same (7500 mile, 15000 mile service). They only charge at every other visit--each of those free visits being an oil change (3750, 11000...), and the charged visits the "minor service". This works out to an average of $62.50 each. The exception is the "major service" at 30 and 60 k miles. Not bad for an Acura dealer.
