Absolutely no problem at all. That light comes on just to remind you to change the oil or whatever else your car might need at so many miles. It based on miles and comes on no matter what. At 6,000 miles since its last reset it will blink when starting the car. Once the car is at 7,500 it will stay on untill reset.

It's absolutely normal. Here's how to reset it.
1. Put your key in the ignition.
2. Press down on the Select & Reset buttons and hold.
3. Turn the key two clicks forward while still holding the Select & Reset buttons.
4. Watch the maintenance required light. It will flash a couple times then go off.
5. Remove the key and release the Select & Reset buttons.

It should now be reset and off. Turn the car on and see if it's reset.

Sorta. Its only designed for oil changes. Not any thing else. Its supposed to be reset at every oil change.

I think it's annoying. If anything they should have just given us an oil life monitor like most other Honda's.

okay is it true that the mainten. req. light stays on in regard to oil changes and oil changes only?

I have reset my light many times after I change the oil, but now it is on all the time and I have tried to reset it but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't remember seeing a lot of those out there in the 2001, 2002, 2003 time frame. Became much more prominent in the '03/'04 time frame, IIRC.

And remember, even the Oil Life Monitor doesn't actually monitor oil life. It monitors driving habits and/or conditions and ESTIMATES oil life using an algorithm. An algorithm that is different for each car maker.

Yes its true. Its ONLY a dummy light to remind you. Push and HOLD the trip and reset light. DONT LET GO. While holding them turn the key to the run position (dont start the car) You will see the main required light stay on while doing so. Keep holding the 2 buttons in till the light goes off. It will take about 10 seconds.

Here's a related question. Will the 7,500 mile counter reset to zero even if you haven't reached the point where the solid light comes on?
