lug nuts...
lug nuts...
i just got my 18s installed today at the tire shop...the guy ask me if they came with the lug nuts (which i didn't have), and he said it'll be ugly and all stick out with the OEMs. then i went to AutoZone to look for some lug nuts that might be better fitment or style, which i found two kinds:
1. Exact OEM shape and style
2. Tuners, tube shape w/ clear center
so what do you guys use on your aftermarket wheels, one of those two?
and since my rims were 10 holes, there was still 5 (5x100) holes exposed, are there anything out there to have them cover up...cuz when i look thru them, i can see the rusted rotor...which is ugly!
any recommendation on which brand or type to get?

You need Muteki or Volk Racing lug nuts, acorn style m12x1.5
Muteki is cold forged, 36g per open ended lug nut.
Volk Racing is very expensive, but they are forged aluminum. Closed ended and weight about the same as Muteki open ended.
Both made in Japan.
Pick your color and enjoy slight gain in torque at front wheels. typical OEM weights 60g per.

You don't need to spend a fortune on lugs and locks like TunedTL posted. Check out this thread and it'll give you some insight.
Bottom line, Gorilla and McGard are excellent brands. Make sure you get a set of locks too.

Not to debate this with anyone but just share some facts.
Lighter weight at the wheels also give you some performance gains.
Cold forged steel lug nuts such as Muteki or Gorilla gets you additional weight saving over OEM. More importantly, these weight are not static weight, they are rotational mass that affects every time you accelerates or brakes. Conversation of energy, the energy used to make wheels moving AND rotating can be saved or used to push the car forward.
24g per lug nuts saving translates into 1 lbs of weight saving for 4 wheels.
People can say it is not a big deal to save 1 pound, but $670 comptech mufflers will get you less than 1 ft-lb gain according to Comptech's dyno chart

You can get that gain (probably more) with a $30 lug nuts, that is across entire RPM band.

and wut size for our car? 12x1.25mm or 12x1.5mm ?
Edit: never mind...got it!
M12 x 1.5 application: Fits Hondas, Acuras, Toyotas, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi etc.
just to make sure, 12x1.5mm is the one right ??
