Losing power when accelerating at low rpm
Losing power when accelerating at low rpm
Hi!
2003 TL-s. When driving at low rpm car has been weirdly losing power where it drops 100rpm. I recently had a random misfire in which we checked plugs and coils and moved them to different locations to see if the misfire would follow it but it did not. We put carb cleaner in the engine and cleared the code and the code did not return but now I have this new issue.

In the video you can see as I'm accelerating, at around 2000rpm the car loses power as my foot is on the gas and drops down 100rpm and then re-gains power. Its been constantly doing this now at lower rpm. If anyones ever dealt with this in the past please let me know!

Like, what exactly did you do when you say, We put carb cleaner in the engine?

Did you spray copious amounts in the throttle body?

Yeah exactly just sprayed into throttle body. Car was driving great after this and the misfire code didn't pop up again after. I don't think I need a valve adjustment based on the fact that there isn't any loud ticking but at this point I have no idea what's causing this. Wondering if I may have an electrical issue.
Could it have been caused by using carb cleaner instead of throttle body cleaner? Not all cleaning products are compatible with fuel-injected vehicles and throttle bodies. Try cleaning it again with 'CRC Throttle Body & Air-Intake Cleaner'. You could also try cleaning the MAP sensor with 'CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner'. Make sure to let everything air dry adequately (15 minutes minimum) before reassembling the components and starting the car again. While you're at it, make sure your air filter is clean too.
