Lose shaking noise in the back?

Okay...so now I only have one noise...when I go over bumps it sounds like it would sound if my trunk latches loosely, or a door or something (although it isn't). This sound is emanating from the back seat...any ideas?

Check those tools in the trunk tray on the passenger side. Maybe something in there is loose

Check the latch to the trunk. IIRC, the mechanism that holds the trunk closed is bolted to the body of the car in two elongated holes so the whole latch assembly can move up and down vertically. It's designed like that so if the trunk isn't closing tight you can adjust where the latch needs to be to pull the lid down tight. If the latch assembly is too high up, then the trunk is held down only by the latch and is not pressing against the body with its rubber feet. The noise that will result is the latch catch bar bouncing up and down in the latch assembly.

Quick test. Close the trunk so it is latched, then grab it by the lower lip and try and pull up on it. Try and jiggle the lid while closed. If you get any motion at all that's probably the noise.

If not that, check the spare tire. The rod that goes through the center of the rim to hold it in place might be loose. Also make sure there is nothing loose rolling around down there.

Good luck.

Did you put on springs? Because when you put on springs you have to remove the backseat. Mine was not tied in fully and that's what noise came from out back. My friend @ the dealer tied it down and no sounds anymore, except for the freak'n dash!

No I haven't put springs in yet, however maybe it's my imagination but I THINK the sound stops when people sit in the back...maybe they're just making too much noise for me to hear. But would that stop the noise you're referring to? If so, that may be my problem, and so what do I do to fix it...because I have no idea what you mean by "tying down"

I have the same noise since I got the car and the dealer has looked into it several times with no solution yet. I am going to check out the trunk lid and spare. Hopefully that will be the fix.

I also have a slight metallic sounding vibration noise in the trunk area in my TL-S. Thing is, I know exactly what it is - the DVD player!! You guys might want to check the DVD player for the Nav unit if you have one. Acura mounts the DVD player in a thin metal bracket. In my case, the bottom of the bracket is vibrating against the bottom of the DVD player. Bare plastic on bare metal, nothing in between. So I'm just going to stick some foam or fabric in there, problem solved!!

Just been too lazy to do it so far

I don't have navi and I don't think Austin does either, but I might double check my exhaust hangers...

Nope no navi...but I will go out and spray the hell out of the rubber holders with WD40...we'll see. How'd you fix yours?

noise

Guys--I am searching too for a noise out back and listened to what you'd said. I swear my noise sounds like someone is tapping faintly with a coin on the rear glass. I tried to look while driving and there were no passengers hanging on so it isn't that!

After my long road trip I think I can officially say I agree with you there. I too heard it and thought it was my phone earpiece that I put in the rear coin holder, but after taking it out, it still made that noise once in a while. I can't really pin point it, so I guess it'll just slide when I take it to the dealer on Wednesday.

I had this too and got it fixed with a simple tape. In the rear glass on the top left there was a small gap between the window and the pillar. Well I got my friend to give me some of that tape he put on my sunroof to reduce rattles. After squeezing in a tape in the top left part of the window there was no noise. Another noise that needs to get checked out is that little cabin light right above my head. I am so happy now that I found where my final rattle is coming from, I'm going to take it in tomorrow and ask my friend to check it out.
