Nooo that switch when you press the brake it releases your parking lock. Not the e-brake. The Parking Lock on the shifter.

I always thought you could use a flat head screwdriver for it, kinda just move it around in there until it catches right, but haven't had mine lock up on me yet, unless of course your making it lock up intentionally....??? If your not and it just happened on it's own, then you may have a future potential tranny problem.

i've only used a flat head for it -- actually i've taken part 22 off and then put a screw driver through the hole...didnt know there was another way; none of my screw drivers are thin enough lol

Okay I cant really explain that well it I guess. When you press your brake there is a sensor that senses you brakes being applied. That sensor releases your shift lock so you can shift out of park. That is the thing I need to replace. I believe it is down under the dash either connected to the brake or the brake hits it when depressed.

This might make it easier. I can't shift out of park sometimes unless I stick a screw driver down that slot next to the shifter. When it's not working my brake lights do not come on. I need that sensor/switch that controls that function so I can buy it and replace it.
