looking to buy 02-03 TLS. Actually for someone. is 5500 too much. I'm in Atlantic City and found a few on cars.com. Does the Type S has tranny problems like the Non Type S (TL-P). These cars have between 100-150k. Probably needs timing belt replaced.

 

I had my car for about two minutes before I needed a transmission. There is a remedy for the solution. Swap the tranny for a 2006/2007 Honda Accord 3.0 V6 tranny. I had the swapped performed last week and is loving the car, and I have never been a Honda fan.

 

they all have the prob of weak oiling to certain clutch packs causing early wearout
Blue paint on bolt heads on trans mean warranty replaced unit

the timing belt was due with several other parts at 105,,expect 1500 dollars for that at 150!! at shop,,
can go much higher too if other maitenance wasnt done before and parts are failing..steering pump- rack seals--

if you really must have a TL click on our Used Car link at top of pages, thats `only members`--so you have a better chance of finding a well cared for car with some history

while 55 is a good price- it probably needs the 105, brakes, shocks (ouch$!) so now its a 9 grand car!
Many are sold quickly when trans acts up~
It will be weird one day, get diagnosed, then fine for a week,,acts up again,,,reset the ecu and sell it quick!
