Question Look what happened when resetting Maint light

I was resetting the maintenance required light and kept holding the buttons down, I heard a beeping sound and my outside temp gauge was counting.....1.....2.....3.....

Has this happened to anyone else?

yes, its a way to set the temp if it is off. when i first got my car it was always 6 degres or so high. so i used that to fix it. i found it by accident when i was trying to reset my service light. the ignition has to be on the first position to reset, second for the temp.

So the counting is the number of degrees you want to adjust the thermometer by? How do you tell if you want to add or subtract X-degrees?

It cycles 0, 1, 2, 3, -3, -2, -1 and back around again.

How do you true up the outside temperature? Stop by a bank and look at their temperature? Listen to the weather? hold a meat thermometer beside your car (lol)?

wait a minute

I thought you can only reset the maint. light. It's not mentioned at all about adjusting the temp gauge. I am lost. What position is for what?
