Is limo tint illegal for a TL?

I am planning to get Limo tint just in the rear window and the 2 side windows. But I am getting regular tint for the front window and front side windows. Is it easy to put the tint on by yourself? Or should I get it done by the professionals. I think I'd save way more money if I put the tint on myself.

I would get it done by a reputable shop/installer. They have the proper tools and the facility to do the install (unless he's mobile) and take advantage of any guarantees/warranties. If, for some reason, you're not happy/satisfied, you can complain on the spot. If you decide to DIY, you may screw up something else other than the tint. Pay someone.

50 is for the back and 20 is for the front? I dont want it so dark you cant see anything. I just want it dark because me and my girlfriend loves sitting in back of my car and we make out. Sorry for sharing that hehe

no the lower the number the darker, so 20 in the back. i think limo is 5. with 20 you really cant see in during the day, and at night its pitch black.

as for the thread title, depends on your area...

so cal... i happen to be an expert on california (HINT HINT for those who still don't know my profession) you can tint anything you want on the rear and back window provided it is not reflective and causing a disturbance to others...

as for the front, really anything over stock is pretty much illegal, police car driver and passenger side windows are tinted to the legal limit, for reference... if your tint is darker than that, regardless of the "number" provided by your manufacturer and/or installer, it is illegal...

that being said lemme give you a hint... roll down your windows when you're pulled over... unless the cop is explicitly giving you a ticket for tint, s/he won't notice it

We have ALL seen the work of a non-professional in window tinting... You know that guy that we see driving down the street and his windows look like you are seeing big bubbles in an aquarium?? A professional tint job makes a world of difference...... and while you are having that done, get a clear bra and headlight/foglights protected too.... just my

I take it from one of your previous posts that you are a Window tinter...... Most of the tinters around here are Clear Bra installers as well. My Clear Bra has saved my nose several times, glad that you pops 350 was saved by it and hope that is a service that you now offer (if you indeed are a tinter!)

a cop pulled up next to me saying that all limo tints were illegal unless the car was a limo, but he was probably bulshitting

i have 5% on the back, 20% on the front, and its perfect for using the back seat ahaha, with anything else but 5% people can still see shadows inside the car making out or whatever....5% is like pitch black, especially at night

def get the tint professionally done, the only time i did tints DIY was when i had cheap ass cars and didnt mind a few bubbles, ive done about 5 tint jobs and i generally did them pretty good but i never had a flawles job done

where in socal are you located? OC? If so I heard of a place called Rainbow Sound that only charges about 100 for tint with lifetime warranty. Go and spend a little extra to get it done professionally

Wrong, CA State states:

Illegal.....
Tinting the front side windows and the windshield (except for a narrow band at the top of the windshield). Windows behind the driver's head may be tinted. If rear window is tinted, right-side mirror is required (26708 VC).

What is illegal and what isn't
