PM: Mr .. He will do the black-housing for you. He will be doing my headlights *soon* hehe, sorry about the wait . As for the fogs, try doing a search. I would suggest a window tinting place

I-MOD over at ClubRSX.com will do it for $175 I think... He did my car (blackouts + clearing). Clearing costs no extra since blacking out requires you to open up the headlight anyways ...

Here's a pic of what my car looks like:

Click HERE to checkout the ClubRSX thread he has going ... Just PM him on ClubRSX and he'll respond.

my suggestion is, buy a set of headlights on ebay, open them up and do your thing and if it comes out good, swap them with your stock ones and put them up on ebay. with all the headlight thefts, im sure you will be able to sell them.

as for the amber fogs... the turn signal in the headlight is amber. is that the color you are looking for? or like the yellow on the lexus is300 fogs?

well, the amber is orange, the lexus is yellow. there are 2 ways to achieve the lexus look. you can do what alexxx (a member here) did and put a yellow film on the lense of the fog lights (which, personally, idont like because it doesnt look very good during the day) or you can buy those max gold bulbs, but chances are they won't last that long. a third way would be to somehow retrofit the lexus fogs onto the tls which would probably cost a lot of dough.

i believe he guarantee's that it will not allow any condensation to occur, if it does, just send him your lights and he'll reseal them. He does a great job on clearing the lights, he did my set. He is legit and many people on this site have used him.. BTW - how do u like the 03' CLK?

If people want I can black out the headlight and leave the orange piece. I can also paint that orange reflector whatever color you want.

If you're afraid of messing it up, just wait until you can order A-Spec parts.

how do you black out your housings? just get the housing like you're ready to clear it, then paint it black? do you have to use special paint? that guy on clubrsx said he sands them - ?

Yeah they will say something... If you want you can buy a used set. When the lease is up put on the used pair and sell your old ones...

I use high temperature paint. you can sand them down but i think it looks better when its not sanded. I havent had one complaint yet with the paint and none have chipped. I put multiple layers.

From what I understand, the advantage to sanding is that you'll have a better surface to work with in terms of applying the paint. Over time, the paint will last longer on the sanded surface ... I'm assuming it takes longer to do it this way though...

I'm no expert on doing this, thats just what I was told.

For anyone in the DC Metro area, I recommend using I-MOD since he's local and can get your lights done over a weekend ... That means less downtime for your car (unless you plan on driving it around with no headlights).

I dropped my car off on a Friday afternoon and had it back on Sunday morning with the headlights and a nice carwash ...

Just my 2 cents, don't want to take anything away from Mr. ... From what I see, he does a great job too!

He kept your car for a whole weekend... How long did it take him to do it...

About 1 day, Friday night into Saturday night ... and then I picked it up on Sunday morning. I could've picked it up on Saturday night, but it was late at that point anyways ...

Sanding and 5 coats of paint takes awhile including dry time I guess ...

Nothing against you or anything, but for people in the DC Metro area, its going to be faster to do it that way versus shipping their headlights to you... Unless people drive the 3-4 hours up to Jersey and do it that way.

Just providing an alternative!

Umm, there's a big pic at the top of this thread of my car with the blackouts. The price is listed there too... Its $175, but you don't need to ship anything since he's in this area..

Its the fourth post in the thread, it has all the details.

For the amber fogs, have you considered using yellow bulbs instead? I've installed Polarg 9006 Max yellow 55W, looks cool & works better in fog. PIAA also has Plasma Ion Yellow 55W=100W bulbs but a shade less yellow.

For the 1999 TL, what do you guys think would look better:
-Cleared Headlights w/ the black housing
-Black housing but leave the amber strip in

Any pictures or opinions would be appreciated
