Yes they did and so did the older RL's.

BTW, didn't MB have the yellow fogs way back in the late 80s/early 90s?

Don't let the reflection of the fogs fool you. They are NOT misaligned.

dang...that looks real nice

it's even "yellower" than the IS

but does the reflection from the ground of the yellow fogs bother u??...it seems a bit bright and REALLY yellow
whereas the IS300, the reflection seems to blend together to give a whiteish look.

how does it look in person??...maybe it's just the pic

They are alot more yellow in person than stock IS300 fogs for sure. As for driving around...I can honestly say that unless you have your head sitting up high you can't even see the fogs at all. Makes me wonder what's the point of even having brighter HID fogs unless you mod it and aim it higher. Out of the factory, the fogs are aimed so low (legal settings) that they would only work when you are reaching the crest of the hill since the lowbeams would be shooting up. Try it up on a driveway and you'll see what I mean. The lowbeams would be pointing up in the sky, and the fogs are the only thing that would light up the road. Problem is when going straight, I can't even see the yellow light at all. Like I've said in my previous post, these were mostly done so that my car can be identified better if I happen to be participating in a caravan at night.

Quite the contrary IMO.

Anyway, those bulbs are pretty low wattage huh? The yellow coat probably can't handle high wattages.

I have the film and my fogs are even more yellow than yours (my fog bulbs are stock)....that's why I'm going to get 2 ballasts and use my old stock D2R factory bulbs. I'm going to try to achieve more brightness output, and bring it down from orange to yellow.

Looks good!

Definitely quite the contrary. I did adjust them just as I did my headlights after dropping the car, but nothing extreme at all, and I can drive at night with just my fogs on, and still have good visibility. Better than my other cars with their halogen headlights.

My point exactly. You would have to adjust them to make a difference. If you were to sit in my car, you wouldnt even see the yellow fogs at all since they are aimed too low. How do you adjust the vertical height of the fogs? And while I'm at it...does anyone know how to adjust the stock HIDs from side to side?

Thats only since my car is dropped. If it wasnt, I would not have adjusted anything at all including my headlights. Even then the HIDs light output far exceeds my old Halogen bulbs. I would never even think of driving at night with just them on.

Well the point I'm getting at is not to argue whether HIDs is brighter halogens (I know the answer already), but how to properly adjust the fog height and if you know of any links/pics that can help me in the process. My point is, no matter how bright the source of light is, if you have it aimed too low, then it wouldnt make a difference. I keep using my pics as a reference because like I've said numerous times over, if you are in the car you cant see the yellow lights because it is aimed too low.

As for the stock headlights....I know you can adjust it up and down and well as side to side...I'd like to know how to adjust it side to side.

P.S.
The 4th pic is an exception since it was taken from the top of the moon roof.

The fogs adjust the same way the headlighst did, they have the same knob right behind them. i just adjusted them the same amount I adjusted my headlights which I dont remember exactly but was around 90-120 degress??? its right behind the fogs, and I did it using a 10mm??? socket just like I did for the headlights. You probably actually saw it when you replaced the bulbs.

How did you adjust the headlights side to side? I didnt know you could do that. Anywayz hope that helps.

It is possible. The dealer adjusted my side to side aim twice after my HIDs were stolen and was replaced. Funny part is they wouldnt tell me exactly where it was. There is another bolt that you can adjust, but is hidden somewhere. As for the fogs, I rarely even see the back of the housing since I replace my bulbs through the bottom and just snake my hand up. Maybe when the weather gets better I'll take another look.

Do you know if Max Gold makes these in an H3 size?

I tried Hella Yellowstar bulbs and they were terrible.

These bulbs look incredibly yellow.

Very nice.

Would the 80 watt bulbs melt the connector? I'm using the 55's now, but I was afraid in installing the higher wattage ones.

I honestly can't say it WONT melt yours (my little disclaimer)...but alot of members, including myself ran 80W fogs and 100W superwhite highs fine for a year before switching over to the yellow side.

I wonder if the Max PURPLE will look any better? Maybe it will match the 6000k on my low beams?? Anyone wants to give them a try?

They're only $20. I was curious to see what yellows would look like...so I bought them. I have no inclination to find out how the purple bulbs are, so I suggest you do a little shopping yourself and take pics for everyone else. You can't be THAT lazy. :grenade:

I've read all 4-pages and I don't think people have mentioned the following point:

A fog light is designed to spread light no higher than the horizontal plain from the source. It is designed so that the "yellow" fog beam will not reflect off the fog and blind the driver.

If you were to put those extremely bright yellow bulbs in the driving light housing, you will blind the on-coming traffic. And, even blind yourself when it's foggy outside.

My apologies, if this have been brought up. But, it's an important issue that people should be aware of.

Heysick, are you on the rag lately? You've been pretty touchy as of late.
Yeah, the #3 girl suddenly decided no more head. Ain't that a b!tch.

Well, Mercedes started the yellow fogs but they were located beside the headlight. Lexus was first in making the fog lamp located in the bottom of the front valance. The 1st gen LS had yellow fogs in the headlight ala Benz (sigh, I know).

The 98+ GS (with HIDs) and 2001+ IS and 92-94 ES has em on the bottom.

THe 95-98 RL has em where the old LS has em. THe 95-98 TL has em there too.

The Last 240 SX had em on the bottom, what a Lexus coupe knock-off that was.

Actually, it looks identical to me.

IMO, the yellow light helps none at all for you, it is very visible to the drunk driver on the other side of the road. I am actually running Sylvania Silverstar bright whites in my fogs, that makes a much bigger difference IMO.

Actually cars from years before that had auxilliary fog lights that were yellow long before Lexus or Acura for that matter were even thought of. Encorporating it into the valence was just an evolution of the design.

I would like to add the totally forgetable Infiniti QX4 with it's overpowering 173hp engine. It had yellow fogs too.
