led conversion

i bought most of the led conversion stuff from leduatomotive.com, with mixed results. i mean the solderless stuff was a slight pita getting through the dash, but workable. but god, for the clock and climate control, wrapping that little bity wire around the super small plastic case is a massive PITA. im still not done. so anyone thinking of this route, its cheap, but you definately put in the man hours doing it.

Question, ok on the ledholder, i need to solder in a resistor between the + and lead or somethign or other (im not an electrical guy.....yet) and i got this pack of resistors. But, theyre like in this papery strip with about 20 of em. do i cut them out? or how do i get it from that to solder time.

also, i got to make sure the solder doesent go past the resistor right? so it wont make a contact betweeen the two wires.

sorry if its hard to explain, tommorow ill get some pics up.

it took me a good 2-3 hours to do them. It was a little pain in the ass but it wasnt that bad. Mine just broke off, i didnt need to cut them. Yep need to keep solder on the one side.

ok, took the resistor out of the paper, and soldered it. few questions.

first off, if the soldering iron touched the resistor for like 2 seconds, is that ok?

also, since the wires taht wrap around the edges of the plastic led holder, it will go in the hole on teh circuit board but wont spin (it wont go quite all the way in becuase of the wires) so can i like hotglue the led holder onto the board?

DOnt hot glue it. You will have to redo it so its tighter.

I didnt have to smash mine (its been a long time since i did mine) but there was a specific way to do it. If not done properly it wont work right.

this is what i mean. if you see, the thickness of the wire stops me from putting it back in to spin.

also, it says wrap 24 guage wire (included around the - side and solder it to the -lead. i have enough wire, can i just wrap the - lead around and use that?

i have a question. does it make any different if i get the 5mm 55,000MCD or 5mm 25,000MCD. i mean the brightness is cut in half but can we tell the different with our naked eyes? the reason y i ask is because i wanted to use the led to replace my dome, doors and map lights.

ok its guna be a 120 bucks to get solderless led;s because the owner said i had to rebuy led kits i couldent send him the kits i already bought. so ill keep trying on my current kits until i save up if i need to. to the people that did this themselves, did you have any tricks? ie the small resistor keeps sliding out of place on me, but its so small i dont know if i can get needlenose pliers on it to keep it there. also, i soldered three of em, and the one i thought wouldent work was the only one that worked lol, so i guess i got bad joints on the other ones
