Leather vs. cloth seating

Is that just me, or somebody else has a problem with leather seating. I have to admit that I hate leather seats. It’s sweaty in summer (regardless if air conditioner blasts hard), and cold in winter (until heat takes over). I bought TL because I felt in love with this car. But, if I would have a chance to get good clothe seats even for some extra $$, I would get it.
So, my question is “What would you pick for no extra money: good cloth or leather seats?”

Leather Seats.

I love it. The only thing I don't like is having to maintain it, but it's not a biggie.
I don't like cloth seats. It sucks. It feels really weird against my skin. I don't like touching it. Wouldn't want it on the TL because it wouldn't be a luxury car if it did (even as an option), and I wouldn't want it.
Velour seats how ever are good. All the features of cloth seats, and it's easy to clean and feels great.

My solution for you is that you should get Accord seats and swap it into the TL.

The JDM Inspire seats are cloth. For whatever reason the Inspire comes with cloth interior instead of leather. Doesn't help you though, since the Inspire seats would be a tough find here in the US. Get some after market seat covers and do a neat install.

I choose neither.

Cloth seats, once dirty/dusty can irritate your skin.
REAL leather seats are a PITA to maintain.

I choose the semi-synthetic leather seats we have on the TL. Most cars advertise "leather"...but only the higher end cars really use them as advertised.

I am in Houston and I got a NBP and ebony interior, the only issue is the leather drying out every so often if left out in the sun repeatedly, but just condition.... i like the leather seats.... Also, yes the heat makes these bastards hot as a frying pan when you take a seat on them in some shorts.... hahahaha

The leather is a paint to maintain, but in a car like TL I wouldn't want cloth since it would make it look like a cheaper car. If i had an accord I would definetly get it with cloth though.

I've had problems in the past sticking to leather seats in older cars, but with the newer cars the leather is different... I never have problems sticking to it, although it is somewhat cold in the winter. But thats what heated seats are for!

Maybe I need to live in Texas to get stuck to the seats

Maybe because back then they used REAL leather. Nowadays its mostly "pleather".

What do you have on your seats? Is that better for summer? Got pictures?
I would like to have something to cover that leather, but only if this stuff looks good. To get Accodr seats is way to complex and, possibly expencive, and will not make it nice. I just think of mixture Accord front and Aura back - he, he... Noop.

Perforated leather helps keep them a bit cooler than non-perforated.... What model year do you have? My '99 is before they used perforated material
You could actually get yourself some really good quality cloth to wrap your seats (have someone take off the leather and install cloth instead). There are some really nice, high-quality fabrics that will feel nice against your skin and that will be easy to keep clean. If you don't get a really decent fabric, you will find that all of the lint and dirt will begin sticking to it and then I'll be hard to clean and probably also isn't good against your clothing material. Shop around at some aftermarket shops where they do custom work -- they should have a variety of materials for you to choose from.

I only go with the leather. Believe it or not, you get less wrinkles in your clothes sitting on leather versus cloth.

I've got 2000 TLP. ILeather is not perforated. I'm really missing velur seats from 1990 Taurus that I had years back. The car was so-so, but it had nice seats.

I prefer cloth as well no matter the car, had to many issues with leather in the past. I love the cloth which is a high quality cloth/velour in my 03 Max more than leather I had in my old TLS. My wife hates it as well but shes looking to trade her 350 in on a 05 TL, she stuck.

Acura leather is actually quite good. I've seen the leather they use on GMs and Chryslers and they look and feel no more than expensive vinyl. The only ones better that I have seen/ felt are those grained ones on the higher end BMW/ Mercedes and in the LS430.

My wife has the same sentiment about the leather seats. Too hot in summer and too cold in winter. My solution- bought 2 quality towels in black that she can sit on all year round and now she's as quiet as can be.

Personally, I like the leather seats after they have wrinkles and such, adds personality. You can't get that on cloth seats. And the stink that it develops after a while is horrendous!

I like the leather. I did not have an real opinion one way or the other until I bought my TL back in 01. For the summer, get a good tint, it will help keep the car cooler and keep your leather from fading and cracking. Taking care of leather sucks, but I have not had any problems. Lexol works great. I the winter they are a bit cold, but you can get a remote starter if its that bad for you. Other wise the seat warmer are quick to warm the seats up. Then only thing I have to complain about the 99 to 01 TLs is that they used a combination of Leather and Vinyl on the seats. ACura corrected this on the Type S. With Leather and Perforated Leather.

THESE are THE best seats out there. Worship now

Granted, you can change the color to suit the interior a bit more but the MATERIAL is what matters. Grippy, easy to clean and luxurious feel.

Leather seats looks nicer in a TL. More luxury Cloth will make it look cheaper and unatractive..

I wouldn't mind having the A-speck seats.. the ones with the blue inserts.....

These are the ultimate in seat covers.

Custom fit, your choice of colors too.
