Leaking AC compressor......

About a month and a half ago I had to replace my AC compressor due to it leaking from the clutch (found after using tracer). I had the whole system drained and turned off at the Acura dealership.

So the next week I went out to my local scrap yard got a AC Compressor from a 02 Accord 6CYL which is a direct replacement same DENSO part num. I also went out got new O rings, a drier and some oil for the compressor that I got at NAPA.

I brought all my supplies to my local shop who specializes in Honda/Acura. They got the job done very well. They hooked up the AC lines to the machine and filled it with the R-134A Freon after the install was done. They Also ran a Leak test with the machine and the machine found NO leaks. Perfect my AC was blowing ICE cold again and I was happy.

About a month later I notice my AC not being as cold anymore, the next week It's as cold as just the fan running with the AC off.

I look under the hood and see green on the top of the compressor right next to the engine. The compressor still engages when I turn the AC on but no cold air comes out anymore.

Is a leaking compressor fixable since it doesn't look like it's coming from the clutch? I just don't feel like going back and getting them to inspect it for more money just to tell me I need a new compressor AGAIN.
So In the end, is the inspection worth it? Or should I just make an assumption that I have a Dead compressor again!

guess what happens to the orings inside the compressor while it sits for however long at the auto recyclers (junkyard)??? they dry out and wont hold pressure
Sure they will hold for a bit with that fresh oil...then....
(you used an r132 with sealer added.. to be safe?)

whats the warranty from the part supplier? they may offer replace or dsiscount on another unit

I hate to say it.. but look up ac compressor repairs and overhauls
forget the dealer- see an ac expert for opinion on new seals or different unit

The most likely places for a leak in that area would be the pulley/clutch, or the two lines going in/out of the compressor. If you truly feel it's not leaking from the clutch, that just leaves the two lines, but you said you bought new o-rings for the install. Surely they lubed the rings before putting the lines into the compressor fittings.

With a fresh charge of R134A and fluorescent dye, they should be able to locate the leak using a black light.

I wouldn't rule out a crack or cut in one of the lines coming out of the compressor. It could easily spray back onto the compressor and make it look like the leak is coming from the compressor itself. I had to replace both the suction hose and the condenser line in mine.

I've seen quite a few leaking at the seams where the front and rear sections join the main body of the compressor. I haven't heard of anyone repairing compressors in the last 25 years. Have the place that installed it look at it, and if it's the compressor, see if the salvage yard will get you another. The places I use are pretty reasonable if you aren't expecting to be re-imbursed for labor. For what it's worth, you can get a re-man for about $200 or so.
