Had dealer use diagnostics for check engine lite and came up with P1457. Toldthis is short in bypass valve 9lots of corrosion). Rec replacing that valve, the 2-way control valve and evap canister to the total tune of about $540. States he highly doubts the ECM is shorted as well but does not know until does above repairs(states that in unlikely event that is case could be another $1K). Other than for the lite on in dash the car runs great('03) with 87K. Anyone run into this situation?

Appreciate the links; guess not a rare problem; just hope after they replace all 3 parts I don't hear service advisor try to tell me the $1K computer module is bad.

 

you can always speak with a service MANAGER who probably does know about cars and can explain things better

'service writers are there to write the original order and call you for increase approval
