Latch on centre console broke

hey guys,

This morning my sister called me after using my car, and she claims that she opened the top compartment on the centre console, and the latch that secures the lid closed snapped in half, and now when you brake the lid closes, and when you accelerate it opens. Has anyone else had their little latch break off, and if so, what needed replacing?

thanks guys.

but was the lid popping up and down? or was it simply loose like it wasn't securing tightly when closing it?

either way I'm sure the dealer will replace mine under warranty.

It would pop up and down when I hit bumps or if I had excessive wheel hop. Its a common problem. Atleast that is what my service guy told me...

damn...I wish mine had become loose rather than break. I hope the dealer doesn't give me the run around and say it was caused by me and as a result I have to pay for the repair.

Yep, mine popped open all the time when I first got mine. Took 5 times, but the dealer finally fixed it (Acura revised the part).

If you are still under the factory warranty, then it should be covered regardless. This is not an issue to get worked up on, even *IF you broke it.

I would like to learn about this TSB before going to the dealership - to avoid the run around.

Would you happen to have the TSB details for this issue?

Many thanks.

Thanks for your assistance - I was worried that the complete console would have to be replaced. Ordered for the part (#17 for $8.06 including local 6% tax), received it the next day and replaced it in less than 10 mins.
