I'm quoting Mr. Ichishima, President of Spoon Sports:
"In reality, if you're the type of owner who runs on tracks only a few times a year. Genuine motor oil offered from Honda is the way to go. It's in fact pretty good. The genuine motor oils are good for daily rides. For the everyday stop-and-go, colling and warming kind of use." Do i sound like the technical advisor at the Acura dealership or what!?

i would run 5w30 year round. it offers more protection. the only reason honda went to the 0w-5w20 weight is to help meet cafe standards.

I would just do that all year round...

Go with Mobil 1 ... 0w30 and change every six months on time...

make sure you use the upgraded mobil 1 filter too.

Amsoil is more expensive and you only have to change the oil once a year, but you have to change the filter every six months.

So I always change it all out anyways... I'll be switching to mobil 1 soon... Walmart sells it, but not the filter so i'll pick up a filter at autozone and take it to them.

I have been using amsoil 5w20 for quite some time now and it seems to be doing its job. I just need to start using a filter other than the one that the dealer supplies. I think I will make the switch to K&N oil filters next time.

I use the synthetic Royal Purple 5w-20 (which is about $5 a quart) and a K&N oil filter. I change about every 7500 miles though if I am traveling, it can get close to 10k. Either way, I live in North Florida where it is 100 degrees in the summer and gets in the 20's in winter. I run the oil year round without issue.

I would think using the same oil would be perfectly fine...

I use Mobile 1 10W-30 in the summer and 5W-20 in the winter. Change oil and filter (Pure One) every 5k miles with no problem.

Amsoil is good, on par with Redline fluids... I used Amsoil in my trans and x-fer case on my drag car (DSM) and it was incredible. I'm sure their oil is just as good.

I ran 0w-30 in the winter for cold startup protection, and 5w-30 in the summer. Benn doing that for years in all my cars that call for 5w-30.

Types and Weights of Motor Oil to use for 2003 Acura TL-Type S

0w20 or 5w20 (Acura recommended weight) synthetic motor oil is fine. I find that 0w20 gives better fuel economy and it lets the motor rev up quicker because of the thinner viscosity. 5w30 can also be used in the summer time if you want more protection against thermal viscosity breakdown. My previous vehicle was a 1978 Buick Skylark which had 240, 000kms on it before I sold it. Used conventional oil and Fram filter. No oil related problems. Change your oil and filter regularly according to Acura's recommended service interval and your car should last a very long time if you do not bag on it.

Recommended synthetic brands are Amsoil, Redline, Mobil 1 and Royal Purple. I personally use Mobil 1 because it's readily available and good value for dollar compared to the competition.

i run 10w30, since socal weather has and will never dip below 10F... (or whatever the temperature limit is for 0w or 5w oils). been running on it for 2 months now, no problems at all.

i would recommend 5w30 for your case.
