keeping ac on

ok im getting a remote start, and seeing as this is texas, id like my AC to be always on when the car starts. If i have it on when i turn the car off, if i come back within ten min or so, it still is on. But if its a long time, then the ac is off. Is there a way to have it always on when the car starts?

you may be reaching temp equalization to set temp- so ac compressor cycles off

its really hard on the starter and battery to have ac on at startup -lots of extra load they are not made for

the TL has a warm up program in the ECU- wait 1 minute after start then get driving-
it warms up much faster when in motion

If you crank the temp down to the lowest setting and the fan to the highest setting, it will pretty much never turn off.

i saw a remote start at honda the other day that allowed you to control HVAC, doors being locked and engine temp. thought it was pretty cool. dunno if it's available for our 2g's though.

but the ac compressor is never on though at startup, the switch may be, but not the compressor/clutch

any car warms up faster when driven due to the motor being put under load
and the ac will cool down faster too when drivin, due to more airflow over the condensor, and the higher rpms the compressor reachs, so it can pump more

it should never turn off with it on the coldest setting (but it will still cycle though, but not much though)(and as long as you are not trying to request ac in like 40 degree weather either; except on defrost), for the fan auto works too, should turn it to full blast by itself, just might be a little slower to get there, due to them doing the gently increase in the fan speed
same thing will also happen with the heat too, if you turn the temp up fully, full blast

and just an fyi, some cars will actually turn the display to show "Lo" instead of a temp setting, then heat would be "HI"
basically all it is doing now is showing that you now want full demand

If my AC button is pressed it will never turn off no matter how long my car is off. Are you using full auto or manual?

the TL has a warm up program that holds rpm a little higher before shift into 2nd and 3rd when dead cold- first few minutes of driving- and it shifts a little harder for some reason with that, afterwards its on lean run mode in the fuel system- best for spark plugs and running

get in and go once it has good oil pressure- the time it takes to settle in - turn on seat heat or tunes-lights etc, its ready to go

Im going to have to look- if the ac is set to be on- electrical power being available then at startup- it would be engaged--its set to be on

Kris is that right? I think my brain is leaking~ I think thats how it was back in the day

im thinking mine turning off might relate to the fact that i think when the engines off nothing at all is getting power. a fuse blown maybe

I would think that if a fuse was blown it wouldnt work period. Simply put it shouldnt turn itself off when the car is shut off and restarted. If its doing that id say there is a short in, or something wrong with the control unit.

light will stay on, but compressor won't engage though, with the car not running, HELL the compressor will even disengage when you go WOT, but the light will still be on though

anyways it is controlled by the PCM/ECU, so not that hard to turn it off at startup and such (not the light, but the clutch)
