Does the CAI eliminate the K&N? I didn't know you couldn't have both.

Depending on where you buy it..the cheapest I've found is $43 plus shipping...I ended up playing around $50 shipped for it. It is cleanable, thus you drive it for 30K miles or so, take it out and clean it and reuse instead of buying a new one like stock paper intake. Also, the K&N flows better than stock filter thus give you a few more ponies. This filter is warrantied by K&N for 1 million miles..can your TL/CL lasts that long?

No dude, this one you take the stock filter out and put this filter in its place..it's a stock REPLACEMENT....the AEM CAI is cold air intake, which replaces the WHOLE stock intake unit. No, you can't use them both that's why I'm selling the K&N replacement unit.

No, K&N are re-useable. You just need to wash and re-oil them every 2 oil change or something. It can last as long as you own the car if you take good care of it. 2 washes will be more than enough to pay for itself if you had used stock paper filters.

Gotcha.

Then only thing steering me away from CAI is the, supposed, decrease in low end torque producing high end power. I would love to have more hp but not in the sacrifice of low end torque.

Are there any automotive stores where you can buy K&N drop-ins as opposed to ordering over phone or net?

I bought my K&N drop-in from Track Auto, or a store with a similar name. Paid~$40 including installation. Call around first.

You paid for installation? I thought it was easy to install by yourself!

I gotcha.

I heard that it is better to buy the oil extra, clean the filter and put your own oil on it for the best first use.

Yes it did cross my mind because it crossed my vision. However I spent less than 38 dollars to get a brand new one. So I could deal with the hassle of getting the money to you and getting a slightly used one for 3 dollars cheaper or just have them ship me a brand new one free of shipping charge. 6 of 1, half dozen of the other. Get me. No sale.

Did someone say it needs to be re-oil every 2 oil change? I have been using mine for 2 years and never touch it. Is it too soon to wash and re-oil? I am thinking of putting 20k miles before rising it and re-oiling? Should I do it more often?

The K&N drop in filter is worth it for under $40. The dealer charges about $30cad for a replcaement filter every 50,000km. K&N states you should re-lube it every 50,000km. The dealer even re-lubed mine for free.
If you think that you will need to replace your stock air filter but dont want CAI or Short-ram, this is a cheap and good alternative.
Performance gains may be minimal but better than the disposable stock air filter.
