If you are looking to get a K&N so you dont ever have to replace your air filter again, go for it. If you are loking for a performance benefit, I woudl save my money, and put it towards a CAI instead.

I am a K&N user for many years. Had a replacement cartridge in my 2001 CL type "S" that had 144,000 miles when I traded for my 2005 TL 6MT NBP. I installed the CAI "typhoon" from K&N 30,000 miles ago, and love the sound & HP increase. Just make sure you don't install the short ram. It won't give you the increase of the extended tube that allows for colder air that has not been preheated by the engine compartment. After having installed the replacement filter in the CL, and now in my wife's Toyota Celica, don't look for much of a difference over stock in either HP or gas mileage.
Just smile knowing that you are not contributing to polluting waste or killing trees by not using throwaways
> As a sidenote, if you install the Typhoon, it leaves the door somewhat open for warranty refusal if you have an engine failure which can be traced back to the install. I took the risk, and don't regret it.

Just did an UOA with CT Icebox with K&N cone, silicon is pretty reasonable and should have no problem with continued usage.

I got a generic CAI with a K&N filter off ebay. I had to cut it shorter beacuse I had fog lights and was sent a mislabled non-fog light model but whatever. This is the 3rd car/ truck I have put a CAI with K&N filter into and love it. K&N does not make a CAI for 02-03 TL-S so I had to improvise.

I use one and like it. Noticed a tiny bit more responsiveness but I think the old filter was just really dirty. Also can hear the car sucking in air a little more too. Also yeah cleaning it and putting it back in is nice.

I just ordered a Fram AirHog reusable filter off RockAuto for a '96 Saturn for only $18.75 before a $20 mail-in rebate. I thought the price was an error, but the filter shipped out yesterday, so I guess not. Too bad RockAuto doesn't sell one for the TL.
